Hi guys can anyone assist on the length of the 2 bolts on the early monster rear brake caliper to the brake plate mount. I know they use washers but either mine came with these 2 odd length cut down ( badly ) and a smidge short or the others are too long.s

Thanks

Alb

Is it an under slung caliper?

Will check my 97 M750 in the morning, if that's any help.

Underslung caliper - top two bolts in the pic?

Yes underslung. More than anything I am wondering whether they are flush to end of plate or proud a 1mm or so. It's also not about what fits it's whether I have the correct length of bolts used for safety.

i would expect them to be proud by about 1mm (rhe chamfer on the end) so there's thread contact for the whole thickness of the bracket. I'm sure others will confirm for you.

Just had a look at my 97 M750 and bolts appear (and feel, with my little finger tip!) flush with back of mounting plate. Can't quite see them without removing wheel, but they feel flush. Check the pics below, although they don't show much of use I admit.

It would make sense for the bolts to use the full thickness of the mounting plate for a "bite" area.

There is about 4-6mm gap between mounting plate and disc so you could go a bit longer if you want to.

Cheers

I found 2 bolts that I have cleaned up and will be going to platers next week along with other parts. They have to have a washer and a spring washer and when fitted with a 1mm protrusion are 24 mm needed meaning mine were 4mm short which is not good. These ones i now have measure 24.7 so are just right for my needs and not stainless. I do have some more modern style ducati ones but will be odd.
Thanks for the help guys and pics

Most Ducatis seem to use M8 X 1.25 20mm there, I've never measured an early old shape though.
