I know I'll regret asking this, but what does everyone think?

Have a couple of beers in the garage while *YOU* decide.
Stuff what anyone else thinks.

(ps doesn't work for me but then it ain't my bike)

If it's any consolation: I have lathe envy

What slob says on both counts but I will say it don't look bad it's just not my thing.

Thanks Guys, I am on your side I think, it was an instant thing when I stood back for the first time.

If anyone really likes it then an offer might persuade me I really don't like it.

Go with your gut instinct. If you're asking the question , you can't be sure. So ditch it.

It needs something to break the blackness.....
- highlight pinstripes to match frame?

It's a No from me as well. But then I dislike the look of all cowls regardless.

On the plus side the 2015 award for most organised and tidy garage background pic is yours :)

It's actually a Thruxton style in moulded plastic(not Fibreglass)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIUMPH-THRUXTON-DUCATI-MONSTER-CAFE-HEADLIGHT-FAIRING-FLYSCREEN-WINDSCREEN-/120987116933

I've just spent a while in the garage working on an old boat engine I'm working on and left the cover off the bike so I could glance at it occasionally when swigging my tea.

I think you'll be seeing it in the for sale section soon.

It would work with clip ons better I think

Looks awful in my humble opinion but would possibly look a thousand times better if you had clip-ons and matching cafe racer style pipes

It may be because its looking bland because Jmo had one on hers that looked much better purely possibly the colour of cream. I do think it keeps it neat and tidy but that may not be enough to keep you happy.

But if you like it........

The whole point of this thread is that I don't think I do like it.
But having brought it, rubbed it down, painted and lacquered it, I thought I'd see what everyone thought.

Took me a while to cotton on to what you meant about Victoria P, but got there in the end.

I had clip-ons on the bike for a short while during the summer, didn't like the riding position so went back to the original bars.

So, anyone want to make me an offer before it grows on me?

It's actually the same one, I brought it off JMo earlier this year.

Well there you go. I think it needs a dress up somehow or gloss the same as your tank. Or selling on :mand:

That's something I still not sure whether to fit on my one as they were not sold until later on. It may be the only part I may buy in carbon aftermarket.

I was also going to say it needs flat bars or clip-ons really, but if you've tried that already I guess that's a "no".
And I also agree that it needs some colour to tie it in .... I was going to suggest thin vertical stripes echoing the white/red/gold of your tank decal.
Its amazing what you can achieve with vinyl stripes these days ... I have a double silver stripe on my blue tank which I only really did to see how it would look before getting it painted properly but its worked so well that I think I'll just leave it.
Might be worth a try before you give up on it ... it would only cost a few pence.

Also, it might be worth trying it on the road before you reject it completely ... it might just give you that little-but-crucial extra bit of wind protection which takes the strain off motorway riding (though with high-ish bars, maybe not).

Alternatively, I have flat bars on my bike, and I kinda like it, and I can see possibilities ... I might be tempted.
It clashes with my existing plans but it might be nice to try both.
Also, since its JMo's old one, it has some club history and I seem to have ended up being a collector of that in the form of various bits now fitted to my bike .... must be getting on for 20 different contributors now.
pm sent.

I quite like it, although maybe the proportions of height to width are a tad too much? I have a small screen but being a bit wider around the light and having a transparent screen changes the visuals/proportions significantly.

But reducing windblast etc. is a good thing IMO so if that's what you're after then it maybe a good trade-off.

That said it looks better, IMO, on the white bike so colour is also important...

Just a thought but I think needs a bit of red / white pinstripe through it to share colours on the tank. Break up the total black aspect.

I think they are all a personal taste thing much in the way some can look fine in one colour and not in another.

My original 1997 accessory catalogue that came with my bike when new shows a couple of variants in there including the 'race' no headlight type that were later used on the S4 Challenge bikes.

A few years ago I got a carbon one and cut a hole in for a 50mm projector light, painted it to match the white panelled seat cowl (leaving a little carbon on show of course) and have gone through phases of preferring the look before going back to the original.

My current look:

I also now have a new old stock original style fairing and seat cowl in carbon that I will be getting painted in the near future to keep the 'redness' but with a splash of carbon showing.

My road racing screen was not to all's taste. I tried removing the black to alloy

I went white like a number board too and then back to original black with colour change on bike too and some minor mods .

Yes sorry about the cryptic reference to Victoria. The cowl looks like the cycling headgear she wore in the Olympics! I couldn't load a picture - not tech savvy enough!

Stick a Ducati decal on it and live with it for a couple of weeks (I like it by the way). After spending the time prepping and fitting it, you might as well see if it grows on you...

Apologies to the several members who’ve PM’d me with offers to purchase this screen, I’ve been doing other things and not replied to them.

Mrs Nasher had the final opinion, suffice to say she hates it.

It would be nice to recover the £60 I paid JMo for it, but I’m obviously aware that might not happen.

I’m probably not going to get to the forum again now until later this evening, so rather than start another thread in the For Sale section I’ll leave it here.

If anyone PMs offering £60 inc postage they can have it for that, however if anyone wants to offer less than that, but more that £40, then I’ll see who’s offered the most by tomorrow evening.

Again, sorry for the lack of replies in person to the PMs.

Afraid I,m in the "dont like it " section. The only fairings I can live with are the original Duke variety.
