Hi all,
I have posted on general chat as I had a issue with my Ducati.
So I thought I would actually introduce myself, I'm stu 31 from warrington,
I have had my Ducati 796 for a week now and bike licence a week :-).
I'm just very happy that I went ahead with the Duc rather than other recommended starter bikes, i absolutely love it got a few miles under my belt just getting used to it.
If anyone is from my neck of woods and has rides out and don't mind a newbie tagging along let me know.
Of to Macclesfield tomoz and maybe Wales on Thursday can't get of the bloody thing.
Hope to see some of you'd soon.
Stu

Hi Stu, A 796 as a first big bike, wow. good choice. It took me a while to get into Ducati after passing my test I went out and bought a brand new RGV250M (first with the banana swingarm) Iguess that dates me but 3 years later when it was all paid for and I was ready for a big 4 stroke ( Had rode mates GSXR) Etc I couldn't give the damned thing away. I even considered p/x for and old (even then) FZ750 but local dealer said no 'cos my stroker had 10000 mile on it. In the end Devimead gave me a reasonable deal on a 750SS and that's when I got the Ducati bug. Still regret selling the RGV and even more so now when I see the s/hand prices for one.

Thanks for the warm welcome, looking forward to meet some of you and hopefully get out on some good trips out. Off out again tomoz and Thursday I've got some experience to be catching up on.
I must admit taking the jump straight to the 796 for first bike was a big one, but I'm disciplined and I'm no loon so I can keep that right wrist under control.

Hi Rmstu. I was at the Cat & Fiddle this afternoon, sorry I didn't see yur post sooner. I'm an 1100evo rider from Stockport so not too far away. I think a 796 is a pretty good 1st bike, at least it's light, which is a bg help when starting out. Bit hard to remember what it was like as I started riding 43 yrs ago...

For servicing, tuning etc have a look at Hammer & Tongs in Warrington.

If you're heading over to Matlock/Buxton just be aware that road is very heavily policed, helicoptors/cameras etc. especially on weekends and most is now 40mph limit! Still a nice ride if you don't get stuck behind a load of stupid caravans or something.

Matlock can get a bit over crowded at weekends, so I usually go over to Carsington reservoir to avoid the crowds. Nice thread this, two boot neck bikers and a stroppy Stoker so far. Any more of you bikers with a seagoing history?
