Guys,

So I ordered some 1" biltwell grips and tried the fitment just now and I'm not quite happy with them.

The clutch side is a little short and I think I'll need to lop of 1/4 inch off the bar:

The throttle side is also short which means there is a white plastic bit on the end that is visible:

I can't cut the end off the throttle side because of the plastic throttle under the factory grip.

Has anyone gone through this though process?

Yasir

On further investigation, I think this is what I need:

Has anyone tried installing these on an 1100 with factory standard bars?

Some aftermarket grips are 119mm long (e.g. Rizoma). This is shorter than the stock grips. Your option is to cut down the bar by about 8mm either side or move all the controls out by 8mm. Moving the controls outward may cause issues with cable lengths, it just depends how much slack there is on them. Personally I chopped the ends off my bars because I preferred it that way.

The grips you have appear to have a covered end and so may be about 124mm long, but this will still come up shorter than the stock grips by several mm when installed, as you have discovered.

when I fitted rizoma grips they were about 1/4" shorter

just drill the bars so the locating pegs on the controls have a new home and move the controls out 1/4"
