Hi - have recently noticed a 'lightness/twitchiness' at the front end, mainly at low speed or pulling off. The steering goes a little vague and sometimes feels like the whole bike lurches a bit. Once at speed, all seems ok.

I have checked the front wheel/tyre and they're ok, not seen any leakage from front forks and headstock bearing seems ok.
I did notice, a while back, that the rear shock looked a little suspect. The foam at the bottom of the stanchion was oil soaked and the disintigrated; and it looks like there is oil seeping down the stanchion. In addition the spring looks like it's seen better days.

I am thinking that perhaps this is the cause of my front end weirdness - as the bike moves forward, the weight moves backwards and the shock is not acting properly, thus making front end light ?

Would like to replace shock - any recommendations? My budget isn't great, but want a good/reliable unit.

Thanks all

Sounds like Rear shock is the culprit.
I have Hyperpro front and back but a LOT on here like the Nitron Rear Shocks

Yep sounds like it to me too, Nitron or Ohlins should sort it, tbh any new shock will see an improvement if you still have the worn out original. Which model you got? There was an Ohlins for sale on ebay recently which may fit. The problem with a s/hand Ohlins although it can be rebullt you have no idea if it has any less miles than your own. So a new Nitron may be your best option. the worst "shock" will be the cost and once you get over that you will realize what a difference it will make. Y

Maxton all the way. Nice people, top drawer kit - and not as expensive as you might think. Give em a ring.

I've also got an Ohlins and it's so much better than the standard. No I'm faced with upgrading the front to match!

You could look at Hagon if you're on a budget.
I've had one on the Dommie for a few years now and although its not as "nicely" made as the Nitron on the monster, it works well and still looks tidy.
At least buying new, you'll get it tailor made/sprung for your weight.
And the Hagon spring will be red, if that's your thing.... (I'm a turquoise man, myself ).

Hi all - decided to go for an ohlins du 044 unit.
However, I seem to be having a problem fitting it. Doesn't seem to fit on the upper rocking arm - ie, cannot get holes to align to fit bolt.

I have assumed (dangerous I know) that it will fit with the ohlins badge facing the rear of the bike and the correct way up?

Any thoughts/advice gratefully received
