I thought i best put this in a new thread.
The tank is from 'Beater' in japan and ordered through www.samurider.com
It took 6 months to make as their skills are in demand. It arrived well packaged and without damage.
As far as i'm aware they only produce with the flange shape to suit s4rs type fuel pump/filter setup ( unless they will do a shape to your pattern on request? Maybe worth asking)
Utopia asked about cost..... In total, about £1400 after post office/ custom fees. It was free delivery at my time of ordering.
The finish on arrival is a 'to be painted' finish, so it has sanding/file marks as you would expect.
My dilema now is how do i finish it?
Painted as per original( although i'd prefer a black stripe with the red, or exposed area's of ally with clear over, or ........

They list the S4RS as a separate item to the other Monster tanks. So I'm wondering if my fuel pump will fit the regular inj version.

I'm facing a similar dilemma with my tank, I was thinking of the same color and style as my current tank but with some carbon showing here and there. But also I'm unsure how compatable it will be with ethanol ?

Mine has all the gubbins, (pump/filter/level sender) already in so it should be plug and play, in theory.

Mmmmm looks the biz.
Would an ethanol friendly interior coating be the way to go wigh a carbon tank?

With the coating applied before any paintwork ( it gets quite hot as it's curing)

It may already have been treated, it wasn't new but came off a running bike. There is a creamy/white coating inside. I don't know if this is a protective coating or kevlar. I'll start a new thread as I think some on here have used or are using carbon tanks. As regards paint I was thinking of leaving the knee cut outs, ignition area and the raised area around the filler cap as carbon and getting the rest painted to match my current tank (Black metal flake with pearlescent white stripe. I favour a smattering of carbon but a whole tank would be too much I think. I think with an alloy tank it would be a shame to not having some parts mirror polished.

Sounds good, like you say not too overkill with carbon.
The thin black lines inbetween white stripe could also be left carbon.

I was also considering brushed ally areas on mine with clear over. It will have to be a winter project.

Thanks for all the info.
£1400 is a bit steep for me.
Not that the monster doesn't get whatever it needs regardless of cost, but I could do a lot of other stuff to it for that much money.
I did contact John Williams at The Tank Shop a couple of years ago but his lead times are so long and his work so individual and particular that I think it needs a great deal of effort and persistence before you actually get a result.
The German company in the link sounds faster ...I wonder what their prices are like.
Also I know that Max (Pompone) was looking into the production of ally monster tanks a while back but I haven't heard anything else for a while now.
I also came across Parker Fabrications, somewhere down south. They made a tank for one of Henry Cole's TV "Bike Show" projects. But, as you might expect with any handmade, one-off item, the price is again very steep.
There are a few ally tanks coming out of India these days and I've often wondered whether there is some scope for getting a few made there.
I will definitely be needing one at some stage and possibly regardless of cost once my bike gets to the stage where nothing else is shouting louder for cash ....but there's a way to go yet before that happens.
I don't fancy carbon ....just don't trust it somehow.
Ally is the finest material for a motorcycle tank, by a country mile (a nice twisty one ;)).

No problem.
Don't get me wrong, it's a big chunk of money i could have gladly done without spending.
My thoughts were that the swelling problem will never get better and i'd get one whilst i could. ( before the guy retired or something! , which would be my kind of luck :-)
