View Full Version : Lowering the footpeg?

I want to create a bit more legroom because my knees aren't great. I want to fit rearsets (or hangers from another bike) which are lower and further back rather than raised and further back. Do such things exist? I bought a set of Supersport hangers which fit but they are an inch or two higher than the original pegs.

I know I'll have to deal with the exhaust mounting but that's in hand.

The ones from an ST2 or 4 should fit and may be lower, SS ones too but they may not be lower.

Try ebay, I have seen 360 degree adjustable footpegs for most Ducati models on there.

Damn! If you had a 620ie I would have been a smart @rse and suggested swapping the seat for an S4 one, which is higher.

However the "M" series seats are all the same height as far as I know and they don't interchange with the later ones.

Maybe you could experiment with some extra padding to see if it would be worth re-covering with more foam in the seat?....Different solution to the problem.

I had thought about raising the seat but I like the standard position and looks. I want to put slightly upswept exhausts on it and thought about doing away with the cast footpegs as I've never liked the way they look.

I had considered the ST4 ones but the don't have the brake master cylinder mounted on them and I dont think they would be any lower. I must find one to meaure.

I'm considering making some out of steel, you see classic racing bikes with tubular rear sets and the look ace. Not sure my fabrication skills are up to that though!

Or, if the hangers you already have from a Super Sport fit why not get a set of custom adapter plates made to position them exactly how you want them.

It would only need to be a simple piece of aluminium billet with four holes in that you could bolt to the existing frame lugs and then bolt the SS hangers onto.

You could experiment with foot rest position and gear linkage length by making up the plates using some ply wood.

Sorry, not the best angle but you can see the kind of thing I mean (although these are quite crude) on my little racer.

Good idea Flip, I did think of that and I think I will do that but I was worried it will look a bit clunky.

I reckon here's the easiest option gives you 30mm lower or backwards or forwards.

This is for a set of four I believe and no doubt imported from china to uk distributor. I got some nice billet off roader ones for my scrambler that are well made and they £87 from china.

The worst case scenario is you also get adjustable gear shift and brake lever too to match. Rear sets are good and my Rizomas on my 1100s were expensive at £600 but fully adjustable in all directions and components. Pompone also sells some very nice ones too.
