About to put the engine in my frame and forgot where this earth point goes? The cable ring terminals seem to small in diameter to be the main rear engine bolt...

I know this I know this sir :mand:

Ok it goes to the back of the footrest hanger bolt the lowest of the two on the frame side. There should be one of your large flat headed shoulder bolts that has a slightly longer thread to take the M8 nut that clamps it in between the welded bracket.

Don't want to sound like teaching you to suck eggs and I know it will seem a shame after painting but don't forget to cut it back to bare metal to make a good ground.

Also while you're about it, it's worth upgrading all the ground and starter cables as it makes a world of difference to starting.

The negative lead from the battery terminates on the near-by frame cross-member on my '97 bike.

Yep no worries flip. I have done that whilst also making new battery, starter and earth cables...
It was relatively cheap to do and I didn't want to pay the silly prices online for starter kit upgrades...
