View Full Version : The noob questions begin... M400

I've tried, unsuccessfully, to research a few items for my lesser-spotted ex-Japan based M400 Monster. So, thought I'd leave these Qs here and see what happens... 👍

Anyone know which manual is best for servicing the 400? Will a Haynes manual for a 600 do the job?

Anyone know where I can pick up a workshop manual?

The bike didn't come with a seat cowl; will a 600 or 750 one fit? And if so, anyone know the part number? Boggo red one will do the job as I really don't need any carbon malarkey (yet!)

Any advice greatly appreciated!

The seat cowl should fit as long as its from the same age monster. I think the only real difference between a 600 and a 400 is the cylinder bore/stroke. All other parts should be the same from what I remember. I don't have the part numbers for the cowl though.

Any year seat cowl should fit, even the older ones are the same up until the new shape monsters around '07/'08 eg 696/796/1100 etc Those are different altogether.

Thanks Darren!

Anyone out there got insight on a workshop/Haynes manual to look after this one?

Cheers!

Theres a copy of the 2001 400 on Ducati's own website.

Doesn't go back any older, is that close enough?

BTW the Haynes manual should cover you for cycle parts if they are the same as a 600 but I don't know about the engine specs if they are the same on a 400, most things will be but cylinders, pistons and valves etc will not be the same.

Thanks again, Darren.

I couldn't find the 400 one; only went back as far as 2001 on the site. Still, I'm sure that will do the job.

Just been out and looks like the fuel tank sender is kaput. I have my first repair to get on with!
