hipshaker I am assuming that the seat for sale is yours?

The listing on Ebay is very confusingly described indeed.
If anyone is interested in the seat for thier bike please note the following.

The No.59510261A is the part No. for the seat base, and is common to (I think) all the Monster seats for the original small tube trellis frame.
So this number will not help you identify the seat to your bike. they just trimmed the base differently for different models.

Shame we can't see whether the catch is a spike or a loop. That would identify it as pre '99 (loop) or post '99 (spike).

If it once fitted a 2004 M800ie then it will be the later spike type.

The label is confusing as it lists 620S/750S 900/S4 '02.
I know that seats are interchangable between 620ie, 750ie and S4 from 2002 (Not sure about 900) but the foam lump is different on S4 and 620ie...So strange that the label lists both, but not an 800?

The 2002 620ie seat does not fit my 2000 M900 and yet a seat bought from a 2000 M900 does fit, as you would expect, but bears a 2002 make date?

One thing for sure is that the seat was not made in 1991...The Monster was released in 1993....I don't think they were two years ahead with seat production.!

I am also confident that this seat will not fit pre '99 Monsters if it fitted a 2004 model.

Hope this helps...And good luck with the auction...It looks in very good nick and the tool kit is a bonus..:mand:

Edit...I think the "tool to hold the seat up", might be the tank stay?

Yes mine ......... I was confused with all the numbers so just listed them all.

Also, I think I put that I thought it was made in 1991 as it has July (or June) 91 written on there too ..... At least that's my interpretation of it. One thing that is certain though ....... It came off my 2004 m800ie.

Ok, had another look ....... What I thought was 91 lug .... Is actually 31 lug, so ignore the 1991 business. Also, it has a spike not loop.

Thanks hipshaker, I think I have it all sorted out now.

So it won't fit '93 to '99 and probably not early ie's either 2000-2002.

It fits '04 M800 for sure.

Going on the label, it should fit '02 onwards 620, 750, 900 and S4.

I was confused that all those models are listed on the label as I had a 620 seat which had a different, lower foam lump....You can see the difference to your M800 one in the pic.

Now I realise why the label states "S" models as these would have the higher seat . The standard 620ie and presumably 750ie would have the lower one, with a different part No.

The different height seats still interchange with one another and fit properly, so if you want a lower seat on your S4 for instance, you can seek out a 620ie seat and lose about 20mm.

With tool kit and stay it's a bargain at £40. I've seen them go for £100..Hope the bidding goes up before the end...:mand:
