In the hopefully not too distant future I would like some after market end cans for my 796.
I've had a look around & the SC Project Carbon oval exhaust cans really take my fancy. But before I take the plunge I'd like to know if anyone has had any experience with these or can offer any advice on fitting them in relation to performance either to the detriment or benefit of the bike.

Will the bike need remapping?

Will I need to remove the exhaust valve?

Hi
The standard exhausts cans come with cats and the proposed exhausts cans do not. Change the cans and you need to get the Fuleing sorted. Others may say different but this my experience. If you are going to do the job properly then a performance air filter, disconnect the exhaust valve, plug the lambar sensors and get a re-map.
All done, expect a small increase in power (5/10bhp) and a bit more midrange torque. The low down snatchiness should more or less diseerpear which is a major benefit and the bike will sound lovely.

If you disconnect the exhuast valve then I am pretty sure you will get a engine warning light.

Look for something called DUC.EE. You can plug this in and it keeps the warning light off.

I have a 696 link pipe that I could sell you if you do go the route of getting rid of the valve. The 696 doesn't have the valve

The valve weighs in at around 2kg I think so worth ditching.

Holty - that makes sense - warranty is up on 5/9/15 so may wait until then.

Jonzi - I think if you leave the valve control electrically connected but disconnect the control cable the light stays off.
I would be very interested in the link pipe. Can you email me with a picture & price?

I have recently had a SC - Project Racer exhausts on my 796 and they worked great without any change to the ECU . Not much noticable perfomance improvement but the sound without baffles is :yoparty: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gggwrgOg0M
Also they are much lighter than stock and for sure better looks
Exhaust valve eliminated with this : http://www.carpimoto.it/en-AI/43297_ESE-D02-HealTech-ESE-D02-Exhaust-Servo-Eliminator-for-Ducati-Monster-796.htm
No engine warnning light with this device.

Also since i have OEM cans for sale maybe someone is interested before i put them on ebay. Almost new (4000 km) with carbon fiber shields on.

If you fit the cans and want to remove your lamba sensors and exhaust valve, then get the ECU flashed with a Rexxer flash, this remaps the ECU, giving better power and better low end useability, it will also do away with the light coming on when you have disconected the valve and lamba sensors.
Neil at Cornerspeed does a ride in Rexxer flash or if you post your ECU he will flash it and return it the next day.

Thanks, I've;
Had the reflash by Neil at Cornerspeed
Fitted a Pipercross filter
Fitted a M696 mid pipe without exhaust valve
Fitted the SC Project oval cans
Removed the lambda sensors
Fitted an Evotech tail tidy & crash bungs
Removed the exhaust valve motor

I'm just waitiing for the 1100 Evo rearsets to turn up, & was wondering where a-tomic got the pillion pegs from.

Max (Pompne) on here does rearsets for the 696/796/1100/1100s which are slightly differant to tne 1100 Evo in that they have a seperate passenger hanger you bolt onto the riders rearset back plate.
