900ie engine query

Hi All

I've been offered (locally) a 900ie engine and would like to know if it will fit into my early 900 Monster.

I'm guessing that physically the engine will go in, but am concerned if the stator / alternator is compatible with my loom and rectifer etc?

I would check to see if it has the 750 heads, some early 900ie did.

Will fit straight in..BUT

As you already worked out you will need to make some changes

The loom is not a problem and will be OK, You will need a later 3p rectifier, (your post suggests you have the one from the ie) you old one could be made to work but not for very long

You will also need to get a new flywheel for the ie engine and swap the pickups from you old motor

Everything else will fit as before
Its not a lot of work a couple of hours to convert the motor

Sorry Kato but my op was unclear as the engine is 900ie only and everything else is from my earlier carbed 900.

V2 heads but mine are V2 anyway

Picked up yesterday so now I've got an engine to build my bike around over the coming year.

Wont get it built this year due to very limited funds but the winter / Christmas will see a cash injection with the bike ready for the spring 2016.

£685 for a rebuilt / repainted engine from Ebay seller Scotts Bike Shed

Are you going to run it with carbs or injection?

I'll run it with what I've got which is carbs so it will all work with my original engine as well.
