Hi, i don't know if any body could help me?

A very good friend of mine has a 'Y' reg Ducati 996s and we have discovered that the front forks have a rather worrying issue, the main body of the fork is starting to blister and if you gently pick at it it looks like there is significant corrosion under the gold plating, the corrosion runs in vertical lines and starts around the bottom yoke area.

I have tried to take a picture of the Showa Forks to show the issue, but it wont come out clearly enough to show the issue.

Has anybody experienced issues like this with Showa forks?
Does anybody know if there is a company that could rebuild the forks with new bodies?
Any ideas if a second hand set would be available from somewhere?

Is the issue with the stanchions or the fork tubes?

Hi, its with the tubes. The swelling is in several places on both tubes, its around 50-75mm long and around 5-10mm wide.
I know stanchions can be machined and then replated.

I'd be interested in pictures as I also have a 996

I will see if I can get some photos that make sense this coming weekend.
