Excellent.
Knockhill's a bit of a haul, but any or all of the other dates are interesting.
Mallory's a definite, probably Donny too, and the first Cadwell meeting looks like a good early outing too.
I may well show up at a few.

Update copied from facebook, after an incident in practice at Graham Hill bend

From Stafford

"Dan lost the front right in front of me and I over braked in avoidance and went down. Dan at A&E but passed ok after my bike slid into his back. Dans is worse than mine. Hopefully just big hammer will fix most except the rev counter that's trash"

(I'm guessing this is a before crash shot)

https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/10441171_886558528061924_8881552253350378752_n.jpg ?oh=835c045cd77fce6884089abe77c4020a&oe=55B57870&__gda__=1434567494_e3d9496ecc54ae1d45847b07f78e4d2 0

From Dan

" I went down mid turn. Slide across the Tarmac. As I hit the rumble strip I felt something big smack me in the back. That was Staffords bike. At home now though. No broken bones. Had my whole spine x rayed. Just bruised"

(Pretty sure this an after crash shot.... but I could be wrong)

Ah Crap!!

Sorry to hear both of you have had a sh1tty start to the season but glad it's 'just' the bikes that need to be repaired- never nice to hear of people falling off!!

Get well soon Dan!!

For those that don't know, Graham Hill bend is a horribly off camber corner at the bottom of the hill after Druids Hairpin and the first of only two left handers on a lap of the Indy Circuit.

If you've ridden the circuit at a pace then you'll know just how much you're trying to scrub off speed after accelerating out of Druids and down the hill before trying to get back on the throttle on the way into Graham Hill bend to counter the off camber and to stop the bike pushing wide on the way out.

A map does not do this justice but here it is anyway:

The left kink just before it doesn't help either

...Just spoke to Dan, he's okay but very sore after an extended checkup and multiple x-rays.
Hooray for quality back protectors!

At home at the moment, feeling a bit bruised. But nothing broken.

Will probably give it another go at Pembury in a month. Gives me a bit of time to let the bruises heal, and get the bike back together.

I've never been a big fan of Graham Hill bend either. I'm always a bit weaker on left hander's due to my prothstetic leg, and the adverse camber makes it worse. Had a few moments there myself so treat it with a lot of respect now. I think my session at Rockingham helped my confidence last season. It has a lot of fast left hand corners that really forced me to push myself harder. I just need to learn to work on my body position and hang off the bike more

Yes it was great to see everyone at Brands today.... was bloody cold standing trackside though

Great result for Stafford after a bad start on Friday. Just a real pity about the DNF in that first race today, due to the snapped gear linkage. Hope Dan manages to get his bike repaired in time for Cadwell Park. Stripping your swing arm out improvised 'A' team style was a real giggle mate. Was also nice to bump into Alan Knight in the pits with his racing team.

The road barrier goes to prove that watching the likes of Ray Mears and Bear Grylls has paid off, Race Paddock Survival Training.

I was told many years ago that you should always carry a scaffold pole when you go racing.

I did ask a guy in the paddock if he had one and he said "you mean a sub frame realignment tool?"

So guys, add one to your vans

Glad you are both ok and well done to Stafford. Graham Hill is a horrible bend, I even managed to run wide on a parade lap once!! A marginally better effort was made on my first DD race, as below, but after the few races I did I have a huge amount of respect for anyone who does race and doesn't finish last, like I did in each race.

Once day I will return... maybe once Dan has stopped crashing as he's just bloody dangerous! :on: ;)

I started racing about the same time as you Steve (we did ACU course at Brands on the same day- remember?).

Even finishing last means you have got out there and had a go and can stick two fingers up to all those people sat track side taking the p1ss saying they could do better- maybe they could but they have to do it to prove it!!

My first race was a real eye opener- 2012, Easter weekend, unseasonally good weather, a hired van, a trusty tent and a mate along for moral support.
Looking around the paddock and thinking to myself 'It all looks a bit serious but I'll be alright I'm a reasonably quick road rider'. First practice was enough to make me re-think that- racing is COMPLETELY different and only those that have had a go will understand properly.

It is also fantastic fun (when things stay the right way up or don't break), incredibly addictive and possibly the best thing I have ever done on two wheels.

for any one that was thinking of going to see the DD and other racing this year... don't bother

Hottrax, the race meeting organisers have gone bust (https://www.hottrax-motorsport.co.uk/)

Looks like the DD committee are trying to sort a few grids with other organisers for this year, and then a full season next.

For sale: Ducati 600ss. One careful owner.
