Forks are bigger 53mm and depending on year brake mountings will be different 40 v 65 mm

Balls. I really like the way the 748 ones look. Never mind, I'll just wrap mine

You could probably get a different top yoke or get yours oversized? They are the same size at the bottom yoke I think.

Monster bottom yoke is 54mm, top yoke is 50 and 748/916 forks are 53 top and bottom, they need a 0.5mm shim in the bottom yoke and the top yoke boring out to 53. I was investigating these possibilities a while ago. Decided to wait until I had the funds for fitting Maxton GP20 cartridges in my existing forks. By the time you have bought the forks, bored the yoke, made shims, fitted softer springs, fitted new seals and oil you are getting north of £450 ish, you also have to make sure you get the version with the correct caliper mount and axle size.

however the 748 forks do look very sexy

Just my 2p

Yep, most are 40mm even the later ones, they didn't change until the 996 came out I think, so most of the early ones will be for 40mm calipers and you will likely need 65mm for your bike or change to earlier calipers, so no.

Indeed, I did this very mod with 916 forks on my M900. Not too complicated really just needs a bit of engineering.

Also had to fit higher bar risers so that the bars clear the fork top adjusters but then I fitted flat bars so that the overall height is about the same, work very well although needed softer springs as the Monster is a lighter bike.

I am I am!

Just to confirm what I'm looking at.... Standard showa adjustables with tinitride coated fork tubes? How bad is the damage? Ie, are they unusable?
