Here's the vid: http://youtu.be/3ilJbbY2Vfk, it just had to be done!

The plan is to make my own exhausts.

Basically I want some really short mufflers coming off the collector.

Where I'm struggling is finding some baffles that have a 45mm OD, I can find 47mm and 42mm but not the 45mm I need to fit my tubing.

Does anyone know of any companies that stock that size?

Happy new year BTW!

search on eBay for:

"db killer 45mm"

you'll get loads of hits

Cheers

I've seen those, unfortunately when they are saying they are 45mm the are stating that the DB Killer fits within a 45mm OD pipe.

The actual OD of the DB killer itself in the description is 40mm.

Where it gets odd is if you see a DB Killer of 47mm or bigger you would naturally assume that the same formula has been followed (i.e quoting the OD size of the tube it fits into) however no, they actually state the OD size of the DB killer.

So basically there seems to be a gap in the market for DB killers between 42mm and 47mm.

So basically there seems to be a gap in the market for DB killers between 42mm and 47mm.

But probably not enough of a gap to warrant manufacturing them?

I would suggest that most users of 'aftermarket' exhausts don't fit DB killers, or actively remove them if supplied with the exhaust for 'road use' purposes...

Not exactly a db killer in the modern sense, but would something like this be adaptable?

http://www.classicbikeshop.co.uk/1-3-4-44mm-to-1-3-8-35mm-adaptor-sleeve-with-sound-reducing-baffling.html

Perhaps I could also share a very old trick we used to use on British iron.
If it was considered that a bulky heavy silencer was not required, it could be safely discarded and the baffles from a VW Beetle inserted into the remaining pipe(s).

They are a little bit like a very long db killer and obviously the diameter would be less than 45mm if we were shoving them up inch and a half pipes....But with an adaptor ring or two and a spot of tig...Y' never know...:D

Thanks Chaps!

Will look into these options.

Hopefully some of the parts arrive soon so I can have a play around.
