Hi all,
Thinking of selling my Monster which has had some subtle performance upgrades to make it a very special monster........ I could not upload photos despite many attempts to resize/change file type so please see email at bottom of listing.
Its a red 2007 S2R1000, I purchased it in 2010 to sample Ducati ownership. I loved the bike but it was a bit tatty here and there, particularly around the engine cases so in 2011 at 13,000 miles it underwent a complete rebuild including the following mods (all done by MotoRapido in Winchester).
Engine completely stripped and vapour blasted. Crank cases & valve covers powder coated satin black, barrels stove enamelled black (better heat resistance).
Complete road spec blue-print (for reliability and smoothness).
Cranks lightened/balanced.
Head rebuilt with new valve guides.
All new bearings, belts, filters, etc.
Arrow full de-cat pipes; road legal with baffles fitted, not without!
K&N air filter.
Custom ECU remap, full rev range not just top end.
Frame bead blasted and powder coated (Ducati red of course)
Forks overhauled.
New chain, sprockets, head bearings and probably a dozen other things i have forgotten.
Ducati Performance seat, much nicer than standard.
I have invoices for £4000+
The result is a very clean and tidy looking S2R1000 but with a very grunty engine that pulls smoothly from tickover. It is very quick and all-day comfortable. I have not Dyno'd it after watching a bike jump around on one while being tested once - nearly wrecked it (a nice old Z900 of all things).
She is showing 18,000 miles now and is kept in a garage with Optimate. There are a few bad points. Firstly the seat cover brackets have broken off so it would need a repair or a new seat cover. The headlight cowl has sat on the shelf since I bought the bike and got a bit scratched (I much prefer it without). The MOT has an advisory that the front wheel bearings 'sounded a bit dry' (which is complete BS as they are fine, the guy obviously only did cars and heard the discs when he spun the wheel on the brake tester). I have a set of wheel bearings but have not fitted them yet. The belts are due to be changed but I have not had the time to get to a dealer. The original service book was lost by last owner, I have receipts for major service at 7,000 miles and all the work since. I also have a replacement service book.
I have the original toolkit, it has an alarm.
I am undecided whether to keep it, I have always wanted a Darmah and next year I turn 50 so am thinking that could be my pressie to myself (but I haven't won lotto so would need the money from this one). If I do sell I would be looking for offers over £4000, which I think is realistic.
If anyone is interested my email is stevefrancisaero@gmail.com
