View Full Version : K&N airfilters.....are there two types ?

I was talking to Jeff Green of G.tec yesterday.
He happened to mention a "deep" K&N airfilter.
It seems there are (?) two different basic types, namely a std depth filter which will fit in the std airbox/lid and a deeper item (with correspondingly less restriction due to the higher surface area of filter medium) which requires the front of the airbox lid to be cut away to allow it to protrude a little.
I've not heard of this before.
Can anyone shed any light ?

This is true - I have both.
Bought the shallower one by mistake when replacing my older deep one

Allows it to protrude a little???

Mine came with a new 'lid' that only secures it around the edge to leave the whole filter exposed- it makes the most 'delightful' of sounds when the throttle is wide open!! :yoparty:

Is that the standard regular k&n size or the higher one that Geoff mentioned? That airbox lid is well cut back!

Flip, That's exactly what I want - I have a stage 2 dynojet I am fitting this winter and I want the open box but don't want to butcher the original airbox lid. Can these still be bought?

Maybe Try Forza Moto on ebay they had some new old stock ducati performance kits that included the cut back lid but you get the filter too! :(

Good call. It looks like they are still available. I have a bit of trouble working out if it will fit my bike but I may take a punt on it.

Says all monsters >2000 on. I'm not sure if they changed it for the older model or not. But someone on here will probably know.

There is another one. I think this is the one for the carby monster

If you look on the MWR web-site you'll see that they offer a one piece filter that replaces the standard lid, I've fitted one to my monster with great results plus I've also fitted MWR filters both to my hypermotard and streetfighter, top quality product...:hail:
