Hi there I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction regarding the radiator cooling fans on my S4R. On a recent trip on a very hot day I noticed that said fans did not cut in. Sitting in traffic I watched with some trepidation as the oil temp gauge clocked past 125c and still no cooling fans. It was obvious the engine was hot and there was a strong odour of antifreeze coolant. Fortunately the traffic started to move and even at walking pace the temp dropped quite quickly. Is this normal?

I have the Ducati workshop manual but other than specifying the temps at which the two fans should operate it is useless. It doesn't give any test info. It doesn't even tell you where the thermal switch is.

I would appreciate anybodies thoughts/knowledge/experience here.

Obviously I don't want to ruin my bike by running it too hot but I also don't want to ruin my bank balance while my local dealer tries to chase down an electrical gremlin in the CANbus system.

Check the fuse and you could put power to to fans to check they work? Then if they are both good got to be stat that brings them on being knackered ?

My S4R fans came on around 100 Degrees and my new 1200 are around the same if that's any use.
