View Full Version : Ducati Scrambler

At last , another iconic bike from Ducati in their line up.

I seriously dislike the way the new monster has gone with the awful re design of the trellis frame that is truly ugly. I thought that they had lost the plot.

This new scrambler though is fantastic and I think it might look good next to the S4R.......what to sell though.

Whilst I think the new monster is missing the point, I couldn't say the Scramber is fantastic. I think it looks best in the blacked out and shadowy pre release photos.

Compared to the Moto Morini, Triumph and Kwaka I'd say they'd missed the point and squandered an opportunity

i did fella, but the opportunity ducati had to make a classic has been sadly missed .. its crap.

maybe ok parked outside a trendy coffee house but thats it....

cant desrcibe how disappointed i am with it.

It's brilliant. They decided to avoid the trap of building some awful retro crap and instead hit the jackpot in terms of looks and style. Cheap too. I may well get one at some point.

Almost think Monster may well be sold now to get one. The best one I hope but hard to choose. I don't think Monster will get much use so may as well go and not sure whether to wait until test bike available.

Pricing seems a little strange. 6995 for a icon which is a bargain, but I can't see a extra 1000 worth of value in the other 3,maybe the full throttle if it comes with the termis. But grand for different colour paint and spoked wheels. I think I will save a grand and buy the bits I want. Then probably sell them to Albie after 12 months!

I love wire wheels , so it has to be the urban enduro. What I would like though is for Ducati to offer the option of the Termis.

Not sure mate. I like full throttle and yellow icon. I do like the best as if I get base I spend on upgrades anyhow. Think I have just outed one moped surplus so theres some deposit and if I can lose some more Monster stays. It would be nice to keep her as I promised her to stay. I need to keep 2 mopeds and maybe one thumper 500.

Are you not keen on the two new water cooled Monsters, or is it the 696, 796, 1100 and Evo models too? I wasn't keen on the last air cooled range and am even less thrilled by the 821 and 1200. For me, none look as good as the S2R and S4RS - so looking for an addition to my S2R 800 is a problem! Common sense says an Evo or an 1100S but I'm struggling with the looks. :gromit:

£6995? Where is the price coming from. I was speaking to a Ducati dealer last week and they said prices had still to be announced. His thoughts were it would be in the region of £8k.

Martin,

Unfortunately i do not like any of the bikes with the new styled frame so this one is a breath of fresh air.....or retro air.

I will reserve final judgement until i see one for real though. (And see the final price).

According to; http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news--general-news/ducati-scrambler-prices-announced/25664.html#ixzz3F5rUFoWf £7k for the Icon, £8k for the others.

Slob but the prices on the site the other night. 6895 for red icon. 6995 for yellow icon and 7995 for the other 3. Give it 3 months and the price will soon go up.

I hope to be proven wrong on the price! It's a lot of bike for £6895.00 - I would be seriously tempted if it is

i think i like it with the wire wheels all it needs is some exhaust modes and an after market spiffy airbox and the speedo mounted central

I was really looking forward to the scrambler, but I must admit I'm a little disappointed with what I've seen so far.
I'll reserve my judgement until I see one in the flesh.
Hopefully I'll warm to it ! :)

I prefer the offset speedo. Yamaha offset the TT500 ( optional extra ) to the right fork top and keeps the centre clear for looking at wheel centre when offroad.

I really like the scrambler, I will wait to ride one, if I like it, possibly leave it a short time for Ducati to identify the snags then buy. One of the bikes will have to go, which one? I have no idea yet. I may of course hate the scrambler.

Its ok and on trend right now I guess the black with hint of yellow one is nice but not breath taking.
If you could modify it a little would be good. It will do well but its a bit " kings Road" all show and pose would anyone dare actually rag one .
Bit like having a great Landrover yet it never sees a jot of mud. Mind you its a road bike styled like a scrambler so hmmm. Its nicer then other stuff around I hope it does well for the company.

I think it will do well its different and of the moment.

Can't say I am in love with many of the new bikes.
The prettiest bike in my eyes and if I could ride one has to be Sports Classic , if they re-released a version of that now it would be the right time. It came out too soon. It would now be snapped up.

Mess about with a Sports Classic and they look the nuts I think ... except a plastic tank .I would have to get shot of the plastic tank I like metal :)

We'll have to do something about that!

http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr289/JMoandpiglet/UKMOC/DucatiScrambler_zpsea4ece84.jpg

And I think it looks even nicer from the rear (well, if you lose the Diavel style hugger):

This bike is already cute, but ripe for customising too... Move over Hypermotard, this will be my next street bike for sure!

I'm with jen and Albie on this one, i think it's a brilliant looking bike.
The only couple of things that stand out for me are the front mudguard, waaay too short, gonna get lots of road crap on the engine, what to do about it?...not sure but it needs some serious consideration methinks.
The other, as Jen says, is the hugger, the Beemer GS has exactly the same sort of thing, although i'm sure it can be removed and an alternative sorted, to stop the wet/muddy line up ones back.
I'm deffo going to have a test ride on one though, the pricing isn't bad, so we shall see.

My fave is the Moto Morini Scrambler so far though. Pure horn...

The group that own KTM now own Husqvarna...

I thought initially they (there is also a silver version, with lower bars) were based on the KTM 690, but on further investigation, it appears they are actually based on the new 390 engine instead...

You might have a bit of a wait. The bikes are only concepts at the moment. They may exist next year, but then again they may never exist.

Oh, not so good then.. The 690 is a nutter's bike, but the smaller lump could be too tame for the styling IMO and all that. Still prefer the Corsaro then...

Well if your interested read this the first proper test ride by a journalist where Ducati have made and sent 30 scramblers to California. Its written not by a hipster type thank god so is genuinely honest.

Looking forward to my first test ride maybe January end off if lucky but my biggest fear is the seat height being low so may be cramped. Anyhow enough of that and take a read.
