So last Bank holiday weekend Bex & I took a trip to Wales with the bikes.
Bex had been a number of times but I'd never been and wanted to sample the fantastic roads. We had a great weekend, apart from the return on Monday in the rain.
The roads were really good and really quiet.
Plenty of choice of fast flowing A roads like the A44 from Aberystwyth, and plenty of tight smaller roads like the Elan Valley or into the Snowdonia National Park.

Definitely going to go again.

It's very difficult to snap pictures of the beautiful roads when you're travelling at the speed limit and looking out for sheep on the roads.

I don't recall doing either of these things

Snowdonia and the Breacon Beacons are basically two race tracks

And when they've build Ebbw Vale, Circuit of Wales, there'll be a proper one there too. :)

Funnily enough Andy and I are as we speak in the process of planning a biking trip to Wales for the near future. Andy picks up a new bike next week and fancies running it in on roads rather more interesting than the A31! Just weighing up between Snowdonia and Brecon Beacons.

Don't you mean which one to do first? :-)

600 miles and I have to be back for the post run-in service, so there has to be a limit - this time!

I particularly liked the elegant regency facade of the lock-up garages. Are they classed as listed buildings in Wales or are they where Dylan Thomas drank himself to death?

Jealous !! Roads are awesome. Went camping shell island (Snowdonia way) bank holiday weekend just gone. Went with family and a bunch of friends but all I wanted to do was go home and get my bike... is that wrong ?

Sorry, areas in London mean very little to me other than the obvious. I do know Muswell Hill a little as my sister-in law lived there & her husband is an architect & still has a practice there.

Opposite end, geographically and in pretty much every other spectrum :)

Not wrong at all Nev - I was also near Snowdon bank holiday weekend camping at Llyn Gwynant Campsite with the family. On the way there all I kept saying to my wife was - 'oh my god these roads'. They are simply awesome. Best ones were the A4086 and the A498 between Capel Curig and Begellert. I was in Wales yesterday didn't quite get as far in as those but did manage a quick blast round the Evo Triangle ;)
