i have been having some online security issues which have been traced by some IT experts back to my google accounts ,,,and also a possible keylogger on one of the ships i was on in Norway ,although the attacks begun before i was working there and no one else has had any issues .

I have been gradually dropping all use of Google products ,, Gmail specificly and Google search ,, and will eventually move to a Nokia windows phone soon and reduce the use of my Motorola motog as all the issue have stemmed from Google security flaws and perhaps something more sinister ..

attempts have been made to access both my Thai and UK bank accounts without success and also my paypal and ebay accounts but also my emails have been compomised and also work data has been copied as have some of my personal files .... last straw was yesterday when i was informed by SC Bangkok head office that a concerted attack on my accounts had been attempted using a lot of my personal data but that they had actually got the password wrong by only one digit!!!!!!

the bank and I have made changes and their security experts also confirmed what HSBC and Barcl;ays UK had told me that Google accounts are a common source in many cyber attacks ,,,,

Whilst it is impossible to completely eliminate google from our lives , I do not use chrome, and my main business and work and banking email is now with an entirely independent group ,,,
One also has to be careful with all online activities and i am sure that google is not alone in having hackers targeting it and that all other rivals are similarly vulnerable it is the synching and linking of google that is the most dangerous thing ,and even when you opt out they re open it via back door channels .

my It specialist who consults for several banks and kepersky has said that google are the worst at the moment ,,,,,,Microsoft have vulnerabilities to but they are not cavalier about back door channels and also are fighting the US NSA in keeping servers offshore ,

But some things are obvious to me now .. be vigilant and keep a diverse spread on your online security and locations of your accounts .

I also have begun to use 'startpage '' search engine which is encrypted and run via german servers but it piggy backs on Google for best search but is anonymous , this is also an extra secure way of searching the web or using banking portals etc

Good thing is I have not lost any money just some worrying and annoying inconvieniences , but it could have been much worse

Oh and google's comments on these issues ,,,,,, No response at all nor ebay or paypal , so i am disgusted with their arrogance
everyone else has been helpful

"Do you wish to link your eBay and PayPal accounts?"

Err, no thanks.

Thanks for the words of warning.

One of the reasons that gmail is most likely to get hacked is simply due to the vast amount of users it had

Hotmail was terrible for it back in the day for the same reason

Google has implemented a two step verification system.

You can turn this on and every time you log in to a machine, you have to generate a code from an app on your phone.

This is the same as HSBC use, except they use a small device to do the same thing.

If your account has been hacked it's probably due to **** poor passwords.

Jonzi My password are very very strong ,complex and long they definitely were not the source ,, aparently neither was the key logger at work as I never used the computer that it was installed on and norway police arrested a guy for it last night ,Company thinks he was after company secrets ??

and it was not just google gmail etc it was a deep penetration raid on my google features and also my computer drives ,

my It specialist is an old school pal who is a contractor for banks and also a consultant for the government security services and a research/lecturer at sussex university has told me that his analysis is that its google back door hacking and very targeted ,He reckons i need to escalate this to the authorities as It could only be done by someone with access to google servers .

i have left my laptop with him for more analysis and am using a tablet at the moment , he tells me this problem is becoming very common with google

all my banks systems successfully resisted penetration which is good ,my microsoft accounts and a third party email provider in asia have also proven to be safe ,,

all my password have been changed again and all my serious accounts switched to a new 3rd party secure email service based in singapore

Thankfully your multi millions of pounds this hacker is clearly targeting you for are safe behind banks security systems and from there insured so just a few phone calls to get back any lost money. Annoying but still....

Jerry a bit of a stretch here don't you think? Google is targeted due to shear number of users as said before.
One thing that many do not realise is many services on the front do not appear google but are actually owned by them, managed by them or have a permanent link to your g account.
As a result they need to hack the weaker link to gain loads of access.

For example how many of you have linkedin? Did you link your linkedin account with likes of facebook, twitter, gmail, Hotmail, exchange and so on for easy login but also to easy find people?
If so all those accounts are now technically at risk as there was a major hack on LinkedIn last month.
If you did not change your login credentials to it by now and were amongst those that passwords were nicked then they also can access your other services without knowing the passwords.

From there do you have your Hotmail for example linked to ebay? Then the wheel turns.

Due to this all new account linking for easy password remembering when they hack your primary gmail account many other services become open.

If you link in to one everything gmail offers then hacking gmail will give them minimum access to your youtube, facebook, twitter, all other gmail accounts and Hotmail accounts.

It is possible Jerry that you have linked some accounts together for ease of use and it was something external that got hacked that then allowed them to follow the chain.

Well then there is nothing to examine. Your pc is infected with trojan so each time you use it online it dials home. I can be software based, hardware based or both.
