My only guess is that by 'smoke' they mean water vapour and seeing as the inj bikes have the immobiliser and other electrical stuff up there behind the headstock it is designed to stop water getting in of you ride in the rain. I know there were problems with ss and early monsters having the reg/rec mounted up there which would fail if it got wet and it looks way better than the standard steel plate.

The only reason I'm selling is that I got aftermarket yoke set fitted now which doesn'r have a placeto mount it!

Whilst on the subject does anybody know what the 2 blind bolt holes are for in the airbox? I've blanked mine out now with bolts, but was just curious if I'm missing a bit!

Darren we are all missing a bit her or there on bikes :)

Your idea seems sound..... Except it is present on 2002 620ie that has connector block behind head stock and nothing else while rectifier is under a seat......

It's carbon. It's bling. It doesn't need a reason other than that. :D

Although, I am intrigued
