I have just received my ticket allocation for the Donington Park Classic Festival over the weekend of 8th, 9th, & 10th August and I have a spare ticket for the full three days worth £25 (do I hear an oooooh?).

http://www.crmc.co.uk/events.htm

So if there is anyone keen on going (ideally making the most of the ticket by visiting/staying for the weekend, you could probably get away with free camping in the paddock (no vehicle pass though, sorry. Although a bike would be ok I am sure). So the first person to PM me the answer to this question gets it.

When I first bought my Mach1 it was styled very differently to how it looks now.
Designed by an Englishman possibly as famous for designing Drum kits and Guitars than motorcycles (but he did race a similarly styled Ducati 250 in the '70's).

What is this style called?

Right seeing as no one wanted to play my little game of 'Guess the style' (it's 'Staccato' by the way!! Google Pat Townshend) coupled with the fact that a mate who normally comes along cannot make it this meeting (Just me, wifey and little one going) I have a spare pair of weekend entry tickets worth £50 (the club gets no revenue from ticket sales).

So if anyone is planning on going on any of the days please pm me ASAP and I will try get them to you.

If you have never been to a classic race meeting before and think it is all old slow bikes wobbling round then you will be very surprised.

Go on treat yourself- oh! you don't have to- it's a freebie!!

Never heard of "staccato".
But my ears did prick up at the mention of a ticket.
Its fairly well known by now that I operate on an unconventional financial regime, I guess, and this would fit in nicely.
But.....I'm intending to go anyway, so I'm inclined to defer to anyone who might be prompted to go on a freebie when otherwise they wouldn't have gone at all.....it was a great day last year and I would recommend it highly.
Failing that though, I'd be well chuffed with a free ticket, particularly if it makes no bones to the club.

I know where you'll be now, so I could probably blag my way in for long enough to collect it on the day.
I'd could say that I'm your paddock bitch for the event, eh ? :mand:

This will be a fantastic event, shame I can't make it. So if your'e bored with the usual modern identikit tupperware torpedo racing, give it a whirl, you'll love it.! As the mix of machines is so diverse, you don't have to have an intimate knowledge of a Manx Norton to enjoy this, flat caps aren't compulsory either....

Good luck to Flip too, fingers crossed for a great weekend of racing.

Hoping to go on the Saturday Flip, I'll look out for you.
Currently building a 250 myself, what a money pit, it's an early 4 speed nc bike which I'm building with a slightly better than mk3 engine spec. I'll be looking out for some race scrubs for it as I understand there's usually some for sale.
Also need shocks and rims if you happen to have anything you want to sell?

Blimey it's a funny old world..!!

I knew a Pat Townshend, so I googled him like you said and blow me it's the same bloke....Never knew he had a claim to fame.

He lived on Primrose Corner near Woodbastwick and later at Blofield... My mate rented a shed off him to make Triumph body kits in GRP and he also made some beautiful Carbon tanks for the 70's Bonnies.

Pat died suddenly a couple of years back.

Yes that's the chap- designed magnesium alloy guitars and odd shaped (but incredibly loud) drum kits along with some very pretty motorcycle parts.

He raced a Ducati 250 single (among other bikes) for quite a few years and was quite successful by all accounts, racing at various circuits around the world.

Although I thought my bike looked good with the Staccato tank and seat unfortunately it made it too much of a stretch for me to ride comfortably and so I sold the parts not long after I did my race license.
