I use Renthal ultra-low but that limits fork adjustments: These may be better

You also need some handlebar clamps to fit them to the top yoke (if standard), either ebay for standard or something like this: http://www.motopike.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=296

Cool that doesn't look too expensive and easy enough that I could do it?

Or if you want to be different and stand out from the crowd :)

Sounds like the bike might have had clip-ons fitted previously. You'll need the riser blocks, top clamps and long holding bolts to refit stock bars to the top yoke. Earlier monsters had two individual top clamps but this was changed to a single clamp around Y2K. Some later bikes also have the lower risers cast into top yoke.

The guy who had the bike before me put café racer bars on. I think I will need the riser blocks, top clamps and long holding bolts but I don't know if I'll fit stock bars. Thought Id fit some Rentals like DrD suggested. Don't know which style tho!

You have to be careful selecting bar height and offset. The stock brake and clutch hoses, throttle cables, and wiring loom don't have much slack in them at all. Flat bars or ones with minimal rise to them seem to work best, otherwise you could be looking at a lot of extra work and expense. I have a set of Renthal low bars on the trike, and they work really well for me. I also have another spare set to sell if you are interested?

How much? Do you have spare fittings?

The whole clamp, or just the top plate?

Asking because I've got a top plate that's surplus to my needs...

I'll have to look I haven't picked the bike up yet. Hoping tomorrow.

Hi Duke,
Just the top plate, sounds like we could have a "deal"

No spare fittings sorry. Looking for £20 +a few quid to cover P&P - they are brand new (silver annodised) never fitted and still in original packet

You have a deal, probably want the top plate too unless bluenose has pushed his way in

Thanks for the bars and risers Garry. They arrived really fast and in perfect condition. There should be a good dealing with section so I can give you good feedback.

Easier and cheaper to go standard or lower than standard. Sounds like you have it figured out already? I'm sure you could add some washers or spacers if you needed to go just a bit higher. They handle better with lower bars/flats or clip ons imho btw. Puts a bit more weight on the front but comfort and preference prevail!

Going Cafe racer inspired on this but not the handle bars. Shopping list includes custom tank paint, custom seat, powder coat frame, wheels and trellis, new speedo. Only question is to tail chop or not.
