Okay the itenery for this little outing has finally gelled.

I hope I havn't started a competition for the most complicated format..:eyepopping:

It's all designed so people can tag on at any point in the day depending where and when you can.

Date; Sunday 6th July.

Meet at The Recruiting Seargent, Horstead (Some think it is in Coltishal)

Depart at 9am.

Possible stop and pick up point at Ringland, Swan Inn approx 9.30am. PM me if you want to tag on here.

Long arc round Norwich, via Barham Broom, Wymondham and Tasburgh.

Stop at SeaStar Motorcycles on the A140.

Depart SeaStar Approx 10am (bit difficult to pin down)..If you want to meet here PM me.

Meander to Flixton via Stoke Holy Cross, Hempnall and Alburgh.

Destination; The Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum, Flixton.

We should be able to spend a couple of happy hours there.

http://www.aviationmuseum.net/

Depart Flixton approx 12.30 /1pm..

Grumpy has very kindly agreed to lead the way to Southwold for a late lunch of Fish'n'Chips.

The Norfolk area is enjoying a bit of a re-birth, so it would be great to see old and new faces from Norfolk, Suffolk or where ever....

Just let me know where you want to tag on and I will try and make sure we don't miss anyone...

Cheers

Gazza

Looking forward to meeting all the new faces tomorrow and the old ones..

I think we may get a dry run with a possible chance of a splash early on, perhaps starting out on damp roads but drying out quickly.

Not sure now if I wiil be going past the Swan Inn at Ringland so if you were going to meet us there shout quickly..!!

Splish splosh!!

What a wet day! Good to meet CrazyDuck, Nick and Grumpy, was the best fun I've had wearing wet jeans in ages.
Interesting route, although if Gazza were to say we were to do it again I think i'd feel just as lost.

Thanks Gazza for arranging this

I feel terrible for dragging you good Ladies and Gentlemen out in the pouring rain.!

At least it was a nice clean Summer rain, not so bad as the cold stuff.

Thanks for showing such gritty determination to finish the run and at least not complain to me anyway.

Funny how all that water turned some of those roads into quite an interesting challenge, with everyone treading very carefully as we got towards Alburgh. (Pronounced Arbru locally?)
A wet gravel washed road, changes the game somewhat.

Shame we cancelled Southwold, but it was the right thing to do in that weather....Look forward to doing a Chip run some other time..:D

Good to meet Crazyduck on imaculate M600 and Nick on his very interesting and very nice Alazzurra. Thanks to all for turning out.

The roads got drier the closer I got to home and I was able to give it some beanz to help the drying proccess a little..

Great day out in spite of the weather, covered 130 miles. Looking forward to Muckleburough now....

You only missed a soaking Wendy...:chuckle:

We only got as far as Flixton and decided not to bother getting even wetter by going to Southwold....Will give you a shout if we head that way again..

Hi, Intrepid People!

Yes, it was good to meet you all yesterday, and Flixton is a gem of a place and has much more character than Duxford, as Grumpy says. I shall return for a proper look around with my younger brother who, alas, is not a bike-rider.

One good result from deciding to go for it in the rain was definitely in my head! I felt much more relaxed (if damp) riding home afterwards still on soaking roads, and when I went out on the Alazzurra in the dry later I felt I was flying on cloud nine!

By the way, it was pleasing to have some nice comments about the Alazzurra from a BMW rider and the Monster Crew. I've never understood why there's been so little interest in them in the past, not to say rock-bottom values. Whatever else I might have, that bike is a keeper! I'd post a pic if I could work out how...

Cheers,

Nick

I'm glad you brought the Alazzurra along, I was impressed by the build quality, which just stood out a mile.
The condition of the bike is amazing regardless of it's age.

We did discus our common reservations about the nose fairing, but it in no way spoiled what is clearly a very high quality motorcycle.

I also liked the way it somehow made the engine look so chunky.

Posting pictures requires a web host.
I use this one, but there are others:

http://tinypic.com/

Best to size the picture to emailing size before you upload it to Tinypic.

I may be doing it long winded..? I usually select the picture, then "send to" - "mail recipient", opt to resize the picture for emailing, save the attached picure then delete the email.
Once uploaded to tinypic it is just a matter of copying and pasting the whole line in the middle box "For forums and message boards" .. You must get the whole line including [img] at each end.
The picture should appear on your post where you paste the line.

I would have done it by now but I left my camera at home...Doh...!!

If you use http://postimage.org/ there is an option to resize for message boards as you upload. Lot less long winded :)

Okay, I've talked among myself, and I am still liking the Alazzurra.

It's grown on me even more since I saw it in the flesh..Can't understand how I came to miss it when it was a current model...Maybe nothing really did it for me in the Eighties? I was too busy with much older stuff.

I like the look of the nearside aswell, with the rear exhaust exiting from the front like the bevels.

The trick with posting a picture Nick, is to copy the line including [img] each end.

The quick answer to your unexplainable missing of the Alazzurra is that it never got imported officially into the UK, at least to begin with. Mine was one of an early batch of a dozen European-spec bikes brought in by 3X M/Cs in Dorset, later followed by some via ?Moto-Cinelli and then much later remaindered stock/used bikes on an individual basis. The US got quite a lot as official imports (with mph speedos, even!) and enjoyed them, but UK bikers were reckoned to be fixated on the Ducati brand and sporting image and therefore unlikely to spend serious money on an unknown brand and their more-staid model.

Personally, I see the Ally as the (prettier!) precursor to the Monster, and also to the Duke ST series, all of which allow the Ducati fanatic time to relish the smells of the countryside rather than just line up the next corner!
