Looks good Al, count me in.
The A272 has got a few interesting bits if you're thinking of cutting cross country rather than doing motorway miles.

Probs the best way if no hurry. Last time I went there was via boxhill then via Guildford over hogs back and picked up motorway. Was the 1st ever UKMOC meet I went too. 10 years ago.

Yeah, my folks live in Portsmouth and I've gone that way a couple of times on way to see them, not as fast as the M25/A3, but a lot more interesting to ride!
That's a blooming long way but nice ride that way.
We arrive back very late from holiday the night before so will have to be a 'maybe' at the moment.

Sammy is a top Gent with some beautiful bikes (those that have seen and heard the Guzzi V8 will know what I mean)
I've just got an invite to take my 'little racer' down for the parade so assuming it doesn't grenade itself or I bin it at Brands next weekend I may well be there with it.

anymore for Sammy's ????
Annoyingly my little racer developed a misfire at Brands last weekend and I am still pulling bits off it to get it ready for Donington in August so I doubt I will be able to make it now.
I'm sure it will be a great day out though- hope the weather hold out!!

That's a real shame, was looking forward to meeting and seeing your little racer, it looks great in the Brands pictures, I was annoyed I could not go to Brands but had other things on.
Good luck with sorting the bike :hail:

Cheers!! It'll definitely be sorted for Donington- I'll get in on a dyno in a week or two to check the fuelling out once I've sorted the mis-fire.
Why not chuck a tent on the bike or book into one of the places at East Midlands Airport and pop up to Donny?
It'll be a great meeting for sure!!

away on holiday, will look to go to Snetterton in October
I loved Snetterton when I last raced there two years ago although I am not sure what it would be like in October.
My wife goes part time later this year so family time constraints might allow me to enter there but as I camp in a tent I will have to see how the weather is before putting in my entry.
It is a great circuit though with some of the best facilities there- only the noise testing (like all MSV Circuits) lets it down.

looking at 7.30/8am meet on Sunday, Shuffy will post up meeting place etc.
Shuffy

The original plan was to take a nice leisurely cross country route down to Sammy's, but as the weather has the potential to be less than lovely on Sunday we'll do two possible options:
DRY START:
Meet at the MacDonalds between Otford and Sevenoaks on the A225 at 7.30am leaving at 8am and then a (hopefully!) nice cross country route eventually picking up the A272.
http://tinyurl.com/njbvcaw
WET START:
Meet at Clackets Lane services M25 (PETROL STATION AREA ONLY, NOT the main building) at 7.30am leaving at 8am and then take the shortest motorway/duel carriageway route we can.
http://tinyurl.com/kjvlt8a
As we won't know for certain until Sunday morning what the plan is, I'll post up as soon as we know, but also if you don't already have my mobile number please PM me and I'll text everyone which option we're going for.
If you think you might be late obviously let us know, as we're aiming to leave 8am latest, but bring a map/satnav address etc in case you miss us.
Clear? I thought not...

I will be at Buck Barn McD's http://tinyurl.com/ogtzbw8 from 9am.
On A272 from Bolney to Buck Barn keep an eye out for plod as this section is a popular early Sunday morning blast route !
Cheers

Yeah I tend to avoid the a272 at weekends for that exact reason, think we'll take it easy along there on Sunday.

CHANGE OF PLAN
We've decided to hedge our bets for tomorrow as things look so changeable, so we're going to meet at
CLACKETS LANE SERVICES AT 7.30, leaving at 8am, the M25, A3, A31 etc. Is that OK with everyone? We can do something more adventurous on the way back if you like.
Martin and Mike hopefully you've got your pm's. I'll text to confirm.
See you all tomorrow.

Shuffy/Alan C my decision not to bother with waterproofs, to make a dash for it and beat the rain from Clacketts Lane nearly worked......
And then I had to ride the last two miles home through a proper biblical thunderstorm........
Great day out though, really enjoyed it. Despite the soaking.

So near, yet so far Ian....
A really fantastic day today that defied the weather forecast (well until the last 15 miles anyway). Great company as ever and thanks to Al, Ian and Martin for the respective routes. Really good to see Stafford, Liz, Stuart, Grumpy and the infamous 888 too!
Highlight of the day for me? A Benelli 250 2c alive and smoking... Oh and that Guzzi V8 being revved hard.
Thanks for a great day everyone.
I'll post up some pics later.

Good to catch up with you guys, Chris's face when he spotted the Benelli 250 was apicture!!
As for the V8 Guzzi, that's the fourth time iv'e heard the beast run, and every time the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end!!
The trip back to Cambridgeshire was uneventful, until about 5 miles from home.... the heavens opened and I was soaked right through!!
My highlight of the day was Phil Read trying blag a cigarette from us !!
Stuart42
21-07-2014, 11:03 AM
Was funny later loading the van as both Phil & Sammy came up & had a chat about the bike and where I'm racing it.
Stupidly Stafford tried to talk to Phil about something far less important than Phil Read, so was on the receiving end of 'now what was I talking about before I was so rudely interrupted' comment.
Needless to say Liz & I didn't mention it on the way back once.

There are 2 schools of thought on this
Modesty should be typical of the success of a champion.
Major Taylor
He who speaks without modesty will find it difficult to make his words good.
Confucius
It was pride that changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men as angels.
Saint Augustine
A great man is always willing to be little.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
And
With people of limited ability modesty is merely honesty. But with those who possess great talent it is hypocrisy.
Arthur Schopenhauer
Having a low opinion of yourself is not 'modesty.' It's self-destruction. Holding your uniqueness in high regard is not 'egotism.' It's a necessary precondition to happiness and success
Bobbe Sommer
Modesty is only arrogance by stealth
Terry Pratchett
