If I go then ye I'll do that.
I have taken a lot of time off recently, and I might be on a euro track day that weekend.
Can't decide what to do
Jonzi,
Drinking Belgian beer & seeing rural Germany is better than riding round a track.

Ade
Erm where am I?
Albie

Its the Belgium weekender for us as held for a number of years. Same date same month same venue, Us UK lot invaded 6 years ago to it to the world record attempt and gone back year after year. We first went with 12 then 20 odd the 35 and is roughly averaging 32 plus the belgiums coming to the party. Its civilised and fun and you can relax or party. We have the whole hotel which has grown with us.
We turned into a weekender ourselves as generally the Europeans turn up for the day. We make it an event sat to mon or sat to sunday if you need to come back sunday eve.

In short (I went for the first time last year)
-Channel tunnel to France
-Ride across to Belgium for a few hours
-Check in to nice (and good value) boutique barn type hotel
-Drink Belgian beer, chat rubbish about bikes etc
-Meet with the Belgian monster club (monster owners Belgium, or "MOB") when sober, obviously
-Some riding, more beers and banter
-Ride home
I took the wife last year and it was a great weekend. It would be great to meet some new faces, get involved! :ukm:

It would be shame if you couldn't as the boat is an hour longer. Nice and relaxed though unless windy like we had on the way home 2 years ago. That's why I will tunnel now and you stay with bike. have you checked our times in case.

If you think Frites n chips are the same thing then you have a very pleasant surprise awaiting you in Belgium. Unless of course moules and mayo are standard fare in your local chippie in which case I'll start house hunting immediately :)

Has anyone got any suggestions on a place to stop for lunch on route yet? I thinking of going via the recently renovated 'In Flanders Fields' museum in Ypres.
According to Google Maps from the tunnel to the hotel via Ypres is 130ish miles and they reckon 4hrs.
Or we could go via that V2 launch site bunker complex that Oz was talking about last year 'La Coupole' which (again Mr Google says) is 140ish miles and 4.5ish hours.
I've plugged them both in 'Avoiding Motorways' so have no idea as to what the roads will be like. but even with a couple of hours stop for sighting, pointing at history and lunch both would seem to be doable journeys.
Alan C - can you just confirm you've arranged beautiful, warm sunny weather for this weekend as I need to plan my wardrobe options. A diving suit would've been the most suitable attire for last years ride!

The museum in Ypres is very good need to allow 2 hours to go round lots to see.
There are plenty of restraunts in the square.
Saturday is market day according to the info I could find. (Eo&e accepted)
Menhim gate is just a short walk away aswell.

Not good news from me I'm afraid.
Took the bike out for a run to charge the new battery and after about 10 miles coming out of a roundabout lost ignition to the engine. All other electrics still worked, engine would turn over but not fire.
AA recovered me home. Currently in the garage spannering trying to work out whats failed. I think it must be a frayed wire in the loom somewhere as I've suddenly just started running again for about 15 minutes, then when I moved the handle bars from lock to lock it failed and cut out again.
Now it's back to just turning over without starting.......
Not looking good for me to be on that train at 7.20 as my bike is slowly being taken to bits. Might need a trip to Proteam for an expert opinion..........
Alan C pls give me a ring (PM sent with phone number)
