I've got some rocking horse-doo if you want but no ST2 cams.

Seriously though when I was looking, I ended up buying an ST2 engine from a breaker, used the cams and a couple of other parts and sold most of the rest of it on (although still got a few bits knocking around).

The good news is, if you discount the time & hassle, that I ended up getting the cams pretty much for free...

Thanks , it's a good idea . Seen a couple of engines on ebay will see what money buys them.
Would anybody estimate a value for an ST2 engine ? Would all ST2 cams work in an M900 ?

Cheers Phil

The ST2 cams were used as they have a slightly longer duration and around .5mm more lift, in a completely std motor you will not notice any difference but when you start too tune they will give good results, 900ie cams are easier to find and are very close to ST2 spec, oh and yes the will fit straight in

I paid around £400 around 2-3 years ago, all ST2 cams will fit and as per Kato's post; 900ie cams are virtually the same so gives you another option.

Thanks for the info guys . Rebuilding the engine with the JE pistons 944 kit.
Been offered an engine on ebay for £400 , think I'll take the chance

If you've not already bored the 900 then the ST2 cylinders are 94mm and will (with a little work) fit a 900 to give you 944cc. ;)

Is a little more than a little work as you'll need to close 2 waterways in each cylinder (1 with a core plug, the other needs good TIG welding and filing) and depending on your engine some other small jobs. Also the cylinder will require honing. São unless you have access to the specialist equipment required you might be better off with reboring and nickasil.

Thanks guys for all the info, looks like i'll buy an ST 2 engine and give it to my mechanic and see which route he suggests.
Cheers
