Hi peeps,
Just putting the feelers out just now.
I have had my monster S2R 800 since Jan 2014 and I am looking to see if there is any interest in it? Looking to sell or swap for a 748/916/996. (I know they're not monsters)
It's a Black 2005 S2R 800. It has done about 12k-13k miles. (clocks were changed by a previous owner to second hand ones which are now reading 24k) fault with previous clocks. Link to pictures below.

It has 3 sets of exhausts, 1 x arrow carbon race, 1 x baffle free set of remus (looks OEM) and 1 x set OEM MOT friendly exhausts.
It has a performance ECU and air filter. (originals in box) original clocks in the box too.
I have upgraded the brakes to 916 calipers and discs.
It has carbon crash mushrooms.
It has shorty levers and rizoma grips.
It has a really nice tail tidy with LED tail/brake/indicators and a quick release fuel cap.
It has bar end mirrors and a tinted screen and rear seat cover and carbon hugger.
I have the original OEM discs, calipers, brake lines, mirrors, rear tail unit and clear screen etc (everything is there to make this original).
There is a box of bits with mini LED indicators and another set of mirrors and other bits and bobs spare exhaust link pipes and exhaust covers and pillion pegs.
I have just ordered a set of rear sets (£250) through (Pompone) and clear see through billet timing belt covers (£200) and they should be with me soon.
It has just had (January) the belts changed and the valve clearances done and new sprockets and chain and rear hub adjuster. (by Perth Honda)
It has been serviced regularly before I bought it. There are 3 keys including red one and card.
It is taxed until next year and MOT until July 14.
It goes and stops as it should, I did 340 miles on sunday with the SDC on the border run.
It is in very good condition.
The bike is in Perth Scotland.
Hopefully the link to photobucket has worked and if there are any other questions or more photos required please let me know.
Looking for £4000 with all the spare parts thrown in. Less if put back to original specs.
Anyone interested let me know

Interested in a decat if you have one.

You might find a 748 but you'll be lucky to find someone to part with a 996, let alone a 916. That said is a clean bike, good luck with the sale.
Ps rearsets on the way ;)

Hi Peter,
My bike never had a cows udder when i bought it.
The Arrow system has its own pipes which are not the same as the decat pipes that fit the OEM exhausts so I don't have a spare set of decat ones as such.
But I do have a spare set of link pipes (s shaped) which would go between the mufflers and the udder if thats any use to you? If it's what your after i can get you pics when i get home?

Max, thanks for the update on the rear sets.
There is a 748 near me at a good price but he wants cash. There's also a 996 a wee bit more money near me, cash also! Depends how much i get for the Monster??

As you can see by the above post that my bike is for sale.
I am after your input people.
Am I better putting this bike back to OEM? (less the udder as it never came with one)
And then selling all the other bits on here/Fleabay/gumtree??
I have had questions about the spare non OEM bits already!!!
I would happily sell the monster back to spec and sell the bits and bobs on separately.
I think £3K-£3.5K is about right going by other posts on here and S2R 800's are like rocking horse poo on all the sites at the moment!!
Your input is appreciated.

John

That didn't last long! I thought you thought sports bikes were too uncomfy over the long rides.

There's been a few 916's selling of late for reasonable money drooooool ...........

I think if I hadn't modified my bike to the point of it being unsaleable I'd have been tempted to the darkside too. Glad I did though as I want to keep it :)

Yeah I know Dirty but after going out for a run and using the monster I love it, but it just isn't cutting it.
Like you, by the time I get it how I want it I might as well cut and run and get another Ducati.
I was looking at forks and stuff the other day and where would it end???

Ah that's the fun of Monsters for me. When I get my 916 I'll probably keep it standard but I doubt my Monster will ever be 'finished' :)

Watch what this goes for: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ducati-S2R-Monster-800-Black-2005-Showroom-Condition-12-months-MoT-/201075133960?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item2ed1030e08
As for me I am still after a sport Ducati to go with the rest of them

Hi Peter,
I have an original OEM set of exhausts less the udder and a set of REMUS looking OEM silencers plus the arrow system.
I've not had any sniffs yet? either it's too expensive or no-one wants it? or I live too far away?
It looks like I may have to keep it and go for plan B. Fit S2R 1000 forks and a top yolk and some clip ons and go café racer style!!!
Thanks for the offer though!!!

changing the bars made a big difference to mine and how much i loved it. i always felt too upright and felt i was getting ripped off the bike at speed. i fitted ace bars so not even as low as clip ons and was such a huge change in position and comfort to me. i then found i never used my carby SS so that was sold. i also would love a 916 to go with the monster but i doubt it would be ridden as much. i say keep it do what you have to to make it right with you. once you get it right it will just click.

Cheers Smiffy I was looking at café racer type bars too??
I'll just have to see which way I go if I keep it!!!

smiffyraf1
26-04-2014, 10:10 PM
yeah they look good i think. a bit in-between clip ons and standard, brought all my weight over the front and tank and found myself a lot more confident on the bike especially after just riding sport stuff. and makes it look a lot more aggressive too. although yours looks pretty nasty already all in black! if you have rear sets on the way anyway think you should definitely go for lower bars

:hissy: but I really want your decats :hissy:

Do you remember where you got your bars? As it might be a cheaper way to avoid the clip ons and top yolk!!!
Yeah when I get the black rear sets and the clear belt covers it'll look good!! I was thinking in painting the engine black too?? just need the time and patience for that!!!

i got em off ebay give me a sec ill just go measure them as i ended up getting two sets as the first set wouldn't go round the clocks
mine were just like these!

Hi Peter sorry mate!!! Unless I get shot!!
Smiffy they're the bad boys I was looking at!!!
I take it the length and angle of rake backwards is okay on these???

smiffyraf1
26-04-2014, 10:39 PM
yeah angle and rake is fine. i didn't even have to adjust my steering stops. my straight part is 16cm but that is tight i probably should have got a bit more as i had to play around with hyd routing a bit more than i wanted too and thats with old style clocks too, think the newer ones may be slightly wider. wish id had the black ones! they look ace! :( i looked at clip ons for a long long time i just thought the ace bars suited the bike more in the look i was going for. think the Jota bars are great too with all the adjustability you have with them. but for a cheap way of deciding if you like them or not you can't go wrong with them ace bars. they are not cheap made either really thick and well finished. the only issue i had since fitting them as no bar ends fit straight out of the box as the wall thickness is great so internal diameter smaller. after a bit of playing and routing through the parts bin though managed to sort something out.

don't mean to thread-jack but found a site that makes the bars especially for the monster so might help you out with some of the measurements.

Hi Smiffy, no probs with the thread jack.
Those yank one's aren't cheap though. will defo look at the ones you said though.
For £40 as long as I get the gap right for the clamps should be good to go.
cheers for the help!! :mand:

smiffyraf1

Oh god yeah i didnt mean buy them yank ones they were just to show they fit the newer clocks

Well one on Ebay went for £3050. About what I thought. Even though it didn't state if the belts were done??? and the valve clearances???
I would take that for mine, if it was back to standard, as all the spare parts would get me £500+!!
If I get no offers on here or gumtree i'll be using the rearsets and clear billet belt covers and looking into some S2R1000 forks and some clip ons or café racer type bars and keep it!!! :mand:

Keep it, bike prices are only bound to go up for the next 2-3 months. If you want a really good sport bike look at a 999.

jdp683
28-04-2014, 05:16 PM
Cheers Max.
But as much as it's a ducati I hate the look of the 749/999 no matter how good on the road it is!!!

jdp683
29-04-2014, 12:24 PM
Well after seeing that on go on fleabay for £3k I am willing to sell mine for £3000 no offers, but that is back to OEM spec no spare parts.
If I get the asking price I will be selling off all the spares (exhausts, Performance ECU etc etc).
When/if it sells the parts will be going on here first and there are a few of you already interested in some parts :D

jdp683
29-04-2014, 08:18 PM
This bike is sold subject to payment.
All parts being sold with bike.
Sorry to anyone who was interested in the spare parts but they have been sold with the bike.
