Thank you for your 'welcome back' messages. It feels like 'blessed are the sinners that repent' and all that stuff.

Slob - and it is air-cooled as well
Buzzbomb - I think Duke Ellington got there before me
Albie - just following your example, weren't you first in the club with the 'new' Monster ?
Rollo - your fault, you persuaded me

No mate don't believe so but one of the earliest 1100s owners on here, Mine was June 09 so shes nearly 5 . I think they launched March/April. I believe CK had one of the very first 696's in UK.

They are starting to get some recognition but I always say don't forget where you come from and we all know that all monsters are great from little m400 to the so far misunderstood 1200.

Hopefully that'll mean a brace of Ducatis and not a replacement one.

Yes, I still have the Paul Smart, that is a keeper even when I am too old & feeble to swing a leg over it.
I p/x'd the ST4S. It was coming up to 12 years old & due a major service & I fancied something a bit newer.

The ST was a great bike, fast and very comfortable. One of the reasons for buying it was that the S4R was never very comfortable for Mrs BRD as a pillion. However, in reality, she went pillion on the ST fewer than 4 times in over 2 years. I suspect that she prefers the car because she doesn't have to sit as close to me as on the bike.

That aside, the ST was brilliant for sustained riding at 80 - 90 but not much fun below that. Bearing in mind the plethora of cameras & boys in blue looking for bikers these days, it would be very easy to rack up points on one's licence without difficulty.

So I really wanted a bike that could be as much fun to ride on some of the many minor country roads around here at 40/50 as it would be at 70/80 on major roads. But I still wanted something with plenty of grunt when required.

Nothing else seemed to fit the bill hence the 1100 Evo. I test rode one a couple of years ago and it seemed very agile and more than quick enough for me. I also really like the characteristics of the 2v DS engine in the PS so it made sense to go for something similar.

Welcome back. Nice choice.

And thanks for posting a pic - I'd forgotten what they look like.

My 14 year old daughter 'persuaded' me to take the bike out yesterday. No salt & dry roads.

I must say I was very impressed. It feels light and agile and even though the wind was gusty, the bike felt very stable. It is more than quick enough for me but, importantly, just as enjoyable at lower speeds.

In addition, I love the sound of it even with the stock exhausts.

I think it's a keeper!
