can anyone tell me the torque settings for rear wheel nuts, please?

my chain has frozen links multiplying by the day and I need to loosen it off.
can't understand why this is happening as I do lube it...have decided that wurth chain wax is **** and have changed. I know it needs replacing but would like to make it last til service at the end of Feb and have it done by a pro.

cheers

Spindle to 72 Nm , adjusters to 8 Nm, it's in the owners handbook. If you have not got one, go to :

(page 48)

76 NM

Make sure you have a Full Nut of thread on each side

Lubricate the threads with grease first

Soak your chain in a rust releasing agent, (wrap a rag soaked in this), work each link that's knackered until you can get movement by hand

Then use plenty of WD-40, then a good dosing of gear oil,

Change the chain soon, and check your sprockets !

I assume it wasn't over tightened? I believe from my ever failing memory that it should have a movement of 30mm when measured exactly half way between front and rear sprockets on the lower swing arm edge...

spacemonkey, it was fine til about a month ago when I noticed the odd link freezing, thought I would have to tighten it after 2k not loosen it.

Chef, do you know of a rust releasing agent that won't destroy the o-rings?

I think it's called Plus-Gas ?

If it troublesome to get hold of, don't bother

Use plenty of WD-40 instead, wrap a soaked rag around tight link, and get some movement by hand

When everything is ok, saturate chain with gear oil, EP80/90,
let it soak and drip overnight

Set chain play to 30mm, midway between both sprockets

Tighten axle nuts to 72-76NM ( there is a tolerance/variation)
but keep within this range

Change it soon, this is just a stop-gap remedy
