Ok it's been painted at some point, and it's got one or two miles on it but it seems cheap, has it been through an insurance company?

Probably is as factory painted, yellow with the silvery-bronze logo is one of the stock colour colour schemes

Not many yellow s4 or s4r's around. Looks decent for money. I remember one going to the first monster track day as a picked up behind him at Milton Keynes services. Guy with longish blonde hair. Could be him and a decent bloke too. Some of the early S4 challenges were yellow mind

Never seen a S4R without a contrasting stripe which makes me wonder if it's been painted at some point. All the info I have on the bikes states there was always a stripe

My s4r has no stripe it has not been repainted, it came from Ducati like that, it was an option on several colours from the factory.
I think most that came into the uk had the stripe or at least it felt like that when I was looking for a black, no stripe s4r.

Also is it normal for it to have a steel tank??

Yes, mine is the same year and has a steel tank.

They probably had some stock of the older S4 tanks in yellow as I think maybe it is the same tank as the S4
