Hi all

OK so I've gotten a kinda crazy idea. I'm thinking of possibly going on a tour for a couple of months and using my monster 696.

I'd be happy to hear from anyone that has done this on a monster (or any ducati). Anyone who is thinking of doing something similar. Tips, suggestions etc. much appreciated!

Anthony

Not toured for as long as 2 months - only 2 weeks to World Ducati Week 2012 - on my M696 but I see no problem in principle.

Kriega luggage is a good solution for the M696 with its high exhausts which make panniers impractical.

Did it on S2R 800 for 3 weeks and 1100 evo for 2 weeks.

On S2R it was a bit extreme (pillion, tent, sleeping bags).

The only downside was a small tank, so bear it in mind… if you're using a satnav - having an odometer might be a good idea. I use Garmin Zumo 550.

I used Oxford panniers, DP tank bag, Ventura Pack and Kriega 25 backpack on S2R and DP side panniers and tank bag, Kriega US25(?) tail bag and Kriega 25 backpack on evo.
Oxford panniers were quite fiddly and dodgy to be honest.

I would personally go for monster dedicated kit rather then universal.

Other than that great fun! Go for it!

I'm thinking of doing the same...... but then they told me you can't check a Monster into First Class as hand luggage :)
