I am looking at changing my brake and clutch fluid as it has not been changed for about 2000 miles.

Will a dot 4 brake fluid be fine for both brakes and my clutch?

Will 1 litre be enough To change all three things ?

Has anyone used this before?? It's blue :)

Dot 4 will be fine. It is probably what was in there from new. Dot 4 and dot5.1 mixes ok anyway.

I wouldn't bother with blue though, unless you have any issues seeing yellowy brown through a clear tube!

Personally I woudn't change my clutch and brake fluid after only 2000 miles, but that is because I tend to do fairy high mileage runs on my bike. I would change my brake and clutch fluid at least every 2 years.

On my evo both my clutch and front brake needed bleeding before it had reached its 7500 mile service. Whether that had anything to do with riding those 7500 miles in 4 months I don't know.

Dont take this personally but after your experiences so far, why not just ride it?

Why do you think the fluids need changing?

Just for fun strip the system, clean it all out with suitable solvent and fill with synthetic 5.1

I quite like doing bits on it. I do ride it, quite a bit but am a tinkerer.

My clutch fluid is black too. :)

Is 5.1 better than dot 4 ???

DOT5.1 will mix with other types of fluid and has a slightly higher boiling point than DOT4 (this will not affect you anyhow)

Is 5.1 better than dot 4 ???

Only if you intend to build a land speed record bike, and even then it's negligible :)

The clutch fluid goes black very quickly. It doesn't mean that it needs changing. It's a Ducati thing ;)
