Very nice, but being from a Farming background that headlamp combo looks like a cows back end! I hope you don't park near any Bulls....

You get a close look when you're shoulder deep up one!

Forks look good

How close is the chain to the side of the 190 tyre? I ask because I run a 180 which runs close to the chain, infact it does have chain 'marks' on it.

I think it may depend on the make of the tyre, I have a 0.5 to 1 cm gap between the tyre and chain. 200 maybe?

Very nice. I like the lights but can't comment on cows rear ends. We don't have any round here.

Ok, have to ask, holes in the tank? How did you manage that? Guessing you've some how put tunnels in it for air flow?

I think he means the reflection of the open garage door on the tank :chuckle:

Nice bike!

What looks like a square one below the ducati monster logo. Or is it a reflection?

Yup, it's nice to get get such a good finish on a tank that it's hallucinogenic:dizzy:

Comment; My old Battlax 180 rear did touch the chain, but the new Pirelli Daiblo Strada has a good clearance...Also a 180....There must be different sorts of milimeters:fou:

Question; I am assuming that your forks have been anodised black Yorkie?
I am considering re-anodising my forks to make them gold instead of silver.
I am curious as to what the proccess is to anodise an already anodised object.
I can't imagine that they simply put more on top, or do they?
I am also assuming that the internal surfaces need to be sealed off from the effects of sulphuric acid?

My legs are actually in very good nick, so I don't want to go making them worse...just Gold.

I think anodising changes the chemical composition of the metal surface rather than putting something on the metal. You need to strip off the anodised layer then simply reanodise. You will lose a little bit of size but not enough to worry about. The important thing is to make sure you get all the original stuff off as any left will be a different colour when redone and you'll end up with blotchy legs.

Here is a link to a guy who teaches home anodising. He explains it much better than I can!

I'd like to know how to get the anodised forks in the yokes without scratching them?

I think a lot of it is down to stiffness of construction, the Metzeler Racetec 190 I have fitted has plenty of room each side.

The old anodising was removed first and then the new coating applied.

Where did you get the headlight from?

I didn't get it from here, but here is the light:

Quite bright, better than the standard light. Its my third light unit, I had to make some brackets for this one.

Thanks for the feed back regarding re-anodising...Might give it a go if it's not too pricey.

Dirty, there should be no need to scratch any thing when you slide the legs into the yokes.
My yokes spring open quite considerably when the pinch bolts are slackened, and the diameter reductions on the legs mean that the "tight" bits are very short.

If your yokes do not spring open enough for an easy fit of the legs you could always try tapping a hardwood wedge into the split to ease the holes open.BUT for gawds sake be gentle. If you over do it there will probably be permanent damage to your yokes.
If you open the slits by a millimeter, that would be plenty.

There should be nothing on the yokes to scratch the legs. Make sure both yokes and legs are perfectly clean before inserting, and stop if there is resistance. Also you could check for any burrs or little dings on the edges of the yoke bores.

Just to say again, be really careful wedging open the slits...Seriously careful. Please.

Thanks for the answer Gazza. It's not something I'll be doing anytime soon but it's in the plans and I did wonder. Don't worry, should I need to tap open the split I'll be very careful. I'm an expert with a hammer, it's my favourite tool. :)

Would be interested to know if you get any quotes. I've been asking around about getting a few little bits and pieces done and it seemed expensive.

Considering I have never had the forks off the yokes opened really easily, the forks just slid out under control easily. One fork at a time is the trick.
