I've now been looking for the past few months for one of the above bike models and having an issue on finding bikes that I believe are correctly priced. I know the summer months make prices increase and equally they'll fall during winter and autumn months. I still think it's a buyers market at the moment and haggling is order of the day, but to me, some of the people are in cloud cuckoo land with their pricing?

My question is has someone got a current Glass price guide for a 2010 796 or 696? Are there other internet sites that can give accurate prices?

I've plugged in the details into Wisebuyers Guide web site and come up with the following;

http://www.wisebuyers.co.uk/motorcycles/bike-prices/

Monster 796+ (2010/60)

Retail: £5,800
Private Good:£4,770
Private Average:£4,290
Private Poor:£3,980
Part Exchange:£4,590
Trade:£4,373

Ducati
Monster 696+ (2010/60)

Retail:£5,350
Private Good:£4,370
Private Average:£3,930
Private Poor:£3,650
Part Exchange:£4,210
Trade:£4,008

So they're saying it's only £400 price difference between the 2 models if buying a 'Private Good' bike. At the moment I've not seen a 796 under £5k and that was a private sale too? Will prices drop significantly come September? I really don't want to wait until late Autumn, but guess I might have to for the right bike. My budget is £5k but not much 796 stock around at the moment and at sensisble prices.

I got 5.5k on base insurance pay out (not including GAP insurance which I got extra) for my 2010 796 non ABS model that got nicked a couple of months ago, which they assessed as being current market value.

Dunno if thats of any use to you but anyway...

Thanks, I thought insurance companies based their payouts on trade prices though? £5.5k seems somewhere between a retail and a private value?

I have no idea to be honest. I guess it would make sense that its trade based.
