Blatant plug as I have a pitch there flogging hats, belt buckles and sunglasses, but I thought I'd mention the show anyhow as it's worth a look.

Today the winds have been up to 40mph all day so I've spent most of it hanging on to my gazebo so that it doesn't join the three other KIAs so far today. You can recognise my pitch as my Evel Knievel Monkey Bike is outside it..

Anyway, thought I'd share a few pics of the bikes that interested me. Loads of Harley chop things, but that's not my cup of tea, but thankfully lots of stuff that is!

And my personal favourite and a deffo future project of mine:

Had the idea to do similar for a while and speaking to the builder it's not too hard to turn a Hardley Sportster into something a bit more fitting for the name.

And of course, my Monkey-

Thanks! Today we had much better weather IMO (little rain to start but then just overcast but no wind!!) and the Hot Rods were in!

Managed to do as few laps of the Beaulieu grounds on the Monkey Bike as well... ;)

Great photos Spacemonkey!

Loving those Hondas! - here's one that should have been there, but wasn't (built yet):

And his alter-ego 'The Baron' (for he is Evel)...

Yep, still the same bike - they are like a Barbie really!

I like it best in black, the Evel scheme will never catch on you know!! ;)

I've since added Julie's front end with disc etc to mine and sometime over the next day or so I'll be uprating the rear shocks too. It never ends with these little bikes...

Hee hee - yeah, it's way too obscure... x

That should make a world of difference to the way the front end feels - I currently have some pattern part (nice way of saying Chinese copy) forks on mine while I refurbish the original Honda parts - there is so much play in them it boarders on scary!

Looking forward to getting out and riding the Monk with the low clip-on style bars, they are actually far more comfortable than you might imagine, and the steering feels even more direct...

Maybe we need a sub-division for the naughty corner in future - the UKMONK!

I second that motion!!! I hear Ped has a secret lust for these little machines. I suggest a little subsection.... ;)

I agree that those Chinky standard forks really are dire- more front and rear play than a Japanese porn vid. Although these new forks are cheap Chinky, they are made at a whole different level! The shocks are the chrome deluxe Shire jobs with adjustable preload and proper oil damping- they're made in Taiwan so one step up the ladder!

The shocks are on and I'm about to go out for a test ride before it gets dark. Changed the hopeless pads for EBC ones and hope it makes a difference, otherwise I shall be scanning through as many brake pad lists as I can until I find something that actually bites!

I know Ped's into his VW vans too (he has a nice T4 he's restored) but I shall announce it here first that I'm thinking of putting the Evel stars/stripes on my white VW T5 front end too...

The future's so bright I gotta find my shades...

Hee hee - you know I might have a few spare stripes kicking around here... as I recall they were about 2ft long - let me know if you'd like a couple...

I think there's quite a few UKMOC members who own monkey bikes, Rally (Alun) has a couple of great pics of our monkey bikes from his visit up Norf.

Ooh, yes indeedy!! I'm still trying to find a white lid on the cheap to sticker up as well, so I might have enough for that too! Trouble is finding a cheap white open face that:

a) Doesn't like like a diving bell on me

b) Actually fits. Shame those Viper ones don't even come close.

Those 'not for road use' Bell 500 Jet copies made by Baruffaldi fit lovely but at £60 not exactly cheap. That's a healthy chunk towards my new Roof Desmo.

Anyway, I can report back that the shiny chrome shocks make a HUUUGE difference! Lifting the back end by an inch or so makes it so much more comfortable on the back and the bike now flies over bumps and feels solid in the way it never did before. The front brake is miles better though still not great so more time needed on that. But apart from that- one happy Monkey... :pd:

Jen, you bringing your Monkey (if you can find an outfit for it) to the Beaulieu Bike Ride In on the 14th July?

Me and the Missus have a stall there flogging adults and kiddies hats and shades, belt buckles (including BSA, Triumph, those yank things, but sadly no Ducati) and other stuff and the Evel Monkey shall be there in front of my gazebo.

No problem - I have some here - PM me your address and I'll stick them in the post x

I was going to suggest the Viper, as I have one myself and I find it very comfy - even moreso for £35!!!

An Arai Freeway is really lovely (my favorite helmet) but is £££s...

I'd love to come to Beaulieu next weekend, but I'm off to Wales with the trail bikes...

That's a shame¬! Be nice to see a Monkey turn out.

Good luck in Wales- I'll be trying helmets again at the show.
