after a brilliant ride round the Peak District, up Bakewell, Buxton, Cat & Fiddle and Carsington, got to within 50ft of my brother in laws and my Lucia decides to just stop and just sits there dead as a nit.

mmmm I think, prod the starter, nothing, a-ha the kill switch I bet, no sorry fella it's not that. so I push said Italian temptress to his house and ferk around for a bit finally give in and call the RAC. so you man turns up and prods the starter, click click click. 'it's your battery mate' sticks his battery back on and wayhey she bursts into life once more. stick his meter across the rectifier and declares it's deceased, dead, el morte.

now I'm a bit p'ed off cos she's broken down but massively happy at the location she chose :)

new regulator it is then.....

was a lovely day in the peak district today. Had a sunday roast at the strines inn, then an icecream at hope, then a run through castleton and roundabout. bliss.
You chose a very handy place to break down indeed, could have been miles from anything!

bad luck

they can be a bit prone to dying
here a good thread (http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/showthread.php?t=46708)on upgrading your rectifier with something more up the the job

You need something bit more 'industrial' that isn't going to break

One of these ought to do it

So found the reason for the rectifier not working...

(Not sure how to stick a pic in the message but there's one attached)

And taking your advice above to look at upgrading the rectifier, just ordered a new MOSFET one, that should sort it....

If you haven't done so already, it'd be worth checking the whole charging system out, including the alternator, battery and all the associated wiring.

Location of reg/rec unit on some later monsters (usually under seat) leads to overheating
