As related on the Sunken Drain Cover thread, big clunk on braking and hitting sunken drain cover (unavoidable due to HGV doing stuff)

I thought all was OK but rechecked...

I have now stripped the front end down and have a broken bolt in the lower fork yoke
6mm Hex Head and about 1.5 inches of thread out - rest left in there!
What to do?
Drill and Helicoil? or what my my 1993 M900

Happy ending to this.
Ray at RM Motorcycles drilled the seized one out.
Ducati Leeds supplied all 9 yoke bolts for £4.53 next day delivery.
I used my http://www.traxxion.com/ForkSpringCompressorKit.aspx tool to check tubes and new oil.
Now rebuilding front end as sparkly unit again!

Must admit that I'm surprised that this was enough of a bash to snap the bolt.
Sorry if my earlier posts on your original thread tended to discount major damage such as this.
I can only think that the higher speed in my similar incident helped to carry the wheel over the hole, while your slower speed allowed the wheel to drop fully in to the hole, creating a heavier loading.
Anyway, glad you proceeded with a proper check, and that the situation was resolved efficiently.
