Hesitation

Noticed a clicking sound accompanied by a slight jerk/hesitation when gently accelerating / deccelerating in low gears, which necessitate more revs to eliminate.

I wonder if it's my riding (not using enough revs) or there is actually an issue?

checked your chain tension?

I'd go with chain tension too. Mine felt horrible when the tensioner had broken and caused a loose chain.
