basket is rippled on where the plates seat, could that be a problem, can it be cleaned up with a file to smooth up or is it new basket time,
guess r have rob a bank again!!!!

you can do that but they will bang away again , eventually you need to buy a new aliuminium basket

The proper thing todo is replace the basket, or to "buy" some time shim the plates so you move where the basket is being worn, or take a file to it, my basket is getting to the point of replacement the amount of play if impressive

Right change of plan, I have decided to buy new with new clutch plates as I don't want to be changing it again next year. Sorry to be a pain hope ur ok with that. If ur going to the weekender r buy u a beer. Thanks for ur kind help.

replacing is the only solution,
If you file the basket, the plates will get more room to move around and will only wear faster.
If you replace the basket, take a 48 tooth version (EVR) including 48 tooth plates, they last longer since they have more contact points.
