Whens it warm enough for track? I'm dithering about some upcoming dates since they are still cheap; it seemed to get noticeably warmer over the weekend but its undoubtedly bloody freezing again the last couple of days.

With road or intermediate tyres I'd be a bit less concerned, but I'm running slicks. Even with tyre warmers, I sense this might still not be particularly sensible. Obviously theres a lot of variables, mainly how hot you keep them out on the track, but I'm not ragging the arse off them yet and so they'll probably cool down over a session.

Any thoughts? Don't really want to buy intermediate tyres at 200 odd quid, then again gonna need them at some point. Or just wait another month....? Not sure whats a safe temperature to get out there at I guess....

It's way too cold in the UK still. Like all tyres you'd need to be really working them to get the heat in.
I'd leave it, but that's just me.

That's all very well for on the track but what about when you're not riding?

Warm enough for the track? I'm looking forward to it being warm enough to go look in the garage!

Hang on until 12th April as the tar will be melting it'll be so hot and sunny at Castle Combe.

A boy can dream can't he?

I tried to make it from the house to garage, but it's 1 degree and some snowflakes - I was beaten back.
I was also considering doing some sort of dance to the weather Gods for Castle Combe on the 12th April, as I have a new toy with 2+1 cylinders that I need noise tested.....
I see they are still using my Monster picture on the Motorcycle track day :)

Is that not the whole idea of a track day, to work yourself and your tyres hard? Give 'em hell and they will be nice and grippy!

I seem to recall an expensive gravel trap/monster interface last time trackday grip limits were explored

You're right Gary. It was because the tyres were cooked and had gone past their best on the edges. It was a 'moment' I will remember for a long time with the kitty litter flying everywhere.
That's what trying is all about though, finding the limits....... :D

I was thinking more of J.P's little off in the wet on the 1100 evo last season

Tracks ought to be just like the roads, mostly dry but cold so it depends on how cold you're happy with and as long as there's no ice just be steady

Thats ok so's the 400. I can see the morning session finishing getting the engine back in followed by a lockwiring masterclass. Luckily I'm up there with a grand master.

Def interested.

If interested in the UK days then I booked with NL

http://www.nolimitstrackdays.com/

If you are a member of TDR (http://www.trackdayriders.co.uk/tdr/forum/forums.html) you can get a 10% discount and I am paying on the day for all of them.

And if it was for Brno then that's still the correct TDO.

Yep I meant UK! Or which works out cheapest I guess.... don't know Brno circuit off my head, will have a looksie.

Edit, well UK cheapest for sure I'd say, and Brno quite a while away too.
