I was provided a 796 loan bike whilst the M1100evo was in the workshop, would like to share the following observations:

The clutch lever is so light and a delight to use compared to the evo.
It is not easy to move/take off smoothly, for some reasons the whole bike shakes / vibrates even if I use the revs.
Low speed riding is easier on the 796 and it tolerates low rpm better than the stock evo.
Feel slightly lighter on its feet despite weighing the same as the evo.
Makes a nice noise in 2nd gear underload.
Runs cooler than the evo (at least 1 bar less in the same condition)
Running out of puff earlier than I expected of a 800cc engine.

Interested to know if other owner feels the same.

clutch judder pulling away is not uncommon on ducati wet clutches , dry ones dont do it unless they have a problem

I did 1K miles on one in Italy last Summer, at first I missed the grunt of my 1000DS, by the end of the week I was loving the thing. Only real complaint is the stock exhausts heat up the rear subframe and cook your legs at a standstill. A much more suitable urban commuter.
