Hi.
I am after info/advice on raising the seat height on my monster 1100s.

I am running standard settings on the suspension now (previous owner had took all he pre load of rear shock) but would like the rear end/ seat a little higher has anyone done his or know of a kit to do do this ?

I have a ducati lowered (alcantara) seat fitted by previous owner which I know drops the height around 20mm, so my first port of call will be looking for a standard seat which is. Shame as its a nice looking seat.

Any help info would be much appreciated
Thanks mick.

20 mm feels quite different, so I think it's wise to do that first.

696 owners raise the rear by switching to a 1100 clevis (between the shock and frame).
Maybe you have room for a washer/spacer there? Make sure you still have enough bolt left!!!

I have the standard seat from a M1100 Evo going spare (for a few quid ;)) if you are interested. As you have said it is 20mm higher than the low seat that you have. It is slightly better looking than the standard M1100/S seat. There is a photo here (http://www.ducati.ms/forums/attachments/parts-accessories/113900d1341941160-fs-monster-1100-evo-stock-seat-red-stitching-imageuploadedbymotorcycle1341941152.095782.jpg).

I use the touring seat which is a slightly different shape and far more comfortable over long distances. Due to its shape I suspect it could possibly classify as being slightly higher than the standard seat, so depending upon how high or comfortable a seat you want that may be another option (although you can't have mine).

I had read about the clevis mod for the 696, I will change to standard seat first then look into a 5mm spacer onto the clevis to give it that little bit more.

Thank you Mick

How about £50 plus postage. I won't know the postage cost until I pack it and take it to the Post Office.

The seat is almost unused. It was ridden for 1 hour before I fitted the touring seat.

Thanks for all the info people, even the nice comfy cushion approach (cheap option :-)

Going to see what the original seat makes it like then go from there

Thanks Mick

Probs about 10-15mm from stock. Its a denser foam so does not squish down as much as standard. Its an expensive touring seat but classy.

PS I never paid the £560 . I bought it secondhand as new from another member for less than half that price. Its a DP one but seat cowl part is made by Carbon Vanni of Italy for them.

The touring seat is Ducati part number 96766909B. This is a link to it on the Ducati website (http://www.ducati.com/accessories/touring/touring_seat_for_monster_696_1100/167/index.do?urlBack=%2Faccessories%2Fsearch%2Findex.d o%3FkeyWord%3D%26pageNumber%3D0%26idBikeFamily%3D2 2%26idModelBike%3D1100%26idModelYear%3D8%26idCateg ory%3D2%26nameOrder%3Dasc%26sortOrder%3Dname). It should be obtainable from any Ducati dealer. I bought mine at the same time as I bought my M1100 in 2010 from CMW so because it was all part of the deal for the bike I'm not sure of exactly what I paid or what the current price is, but I'm sure it was somewhere between £100 and £150, I suspect closer to the latter.
