Now that the main details for our 2013 Buell & Italian Motorcycle Festival have been arranged we've produced this poster for the event:

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b145/cjbuell/th_2013EmsDayPoster-2.jpg (http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b145/cjbuell/2013EmsDayPoster-2.jpg)

This event has always received fantastic support from the Italian motorcycle clubs and we hope for the same this year.

To help with publicity please feel free to copy the link and post it on any other bike forums you may visit. Although the event is predominately Buell and Italian all makes of motorcycle are welcome.

You'll be pleased to know that for the third year running we've managed to hold the admission price to £7.00 but we regret that we're no longer able to offer free admission to female riders and pillions.

Update: as part of the Aviation Centres 25th Anniversary celebrations, 'Em's Day 2013' will be graced by two Avro Lancaster bombers and a B17 Flying Fortress.

The Aviation Centres 'Just Jane' will perform her usual taxi-runs and the BBMF's Avro Lancaster and a B17 Flying Fortress will perform flying displays.

Additional WW2 aircraft are to still to be confirmed.

The timetable for 'Em's Day' and the LAHC 25th Anniversary has now been finalised:

Avro Lancaster taxi-run 1.00pm
BBMF Avro Lancaster flying display 2.40pm
Avro Lancaster taxi-run 3.00pm
B-17 Flying Fortress flying display 3.30pm

Em's Day runs from 10.00am until late afternoon and admission for those arriving by motorcycle is £7.00 each for all riders and pillions. Admission for children, 6 to 15 years, is £4.00. Please try to have the correct money available when you arrive - thank you.

Because this years event is expected to be very busy, on arrival in the main car park all motorcyclists will be directed straight ahead to where we will have the UKBEG gazebo set up to process arrivals. We won't be using the main gates for access to the display area as in previous years.

This helps to keep the main gates clear for public admissions and also means you can park your motorcycle up near the UKBEG gazebo and check in at a more leisurely pace before riding into the display area.

If you're arriving on four wheels instead of two then please park in the main car park and come and check in with us because if you go straight to the main public entrance you may be charged the normal £10 admission rate.

Didn't realise you were there last year, Tim.
Our paths nearly crossed then ...I was there with Grumpy and Capo.
So was Mohawk, and a few others.
I'll be going this year too.
Happy to meet en route with any other midlanders ...though I guess we'll meet at the venue anyway.
Sounds like there may well be a decent UKMOC presence again this year.
I guess we could do with a banner or something ....with carefully vetted logo, naturally.......:flamed:
Weather looks like being a scorcher, so maybe a run on to the coast for a paddle and an ice cream is in order. There was plenty of time after the event last year, with the long days at this time of the year, though it would mean riding home into the setting sun, so shades of some sort are advisable.

I've been a few times now, I think I've only missed 1 in the last 5 years? (due to torrential rain).

Of course I didn't have a (working) Monster before but I'd definitely be up to meet somewhere en-route, presumably you'll be passing through or close to Melton? I always think the road to Colsterworth, Bourne etc. is a nice route out that way.

Normally, I'd go melton, grantham way (mostly out of nostalgia for days at cadwell in the 70s), but your route looks good. I'm not familiar with it, but it looks like it would be a good one to get to know.
Last year we also rendezvous..'d between spalding and boston, which would follow on nicely from your suggested route, so that would fit too.
Looking at the map, would Saxby be a good place to meet you ?
I'll let you suggest a time...I'm flexible.

Dukedesmo

I was on a rideout last weekend with a few Ducati riders and the meet was at the Esso petrol station on the corner of the Leicester road and Mkt Harboro road (you would pass this on your route), one of the other riders (incidentally on a Monster) was new to the area and we had provisionally arranged to meet there again as it is easy to find.

Not sure on the time but it would be around an hour's ride to the event (depending on any 'detours') but the Saxby road through to Bourne is a great biking road.

Dukedesmo

I'll let you suggest a time...I'm flexible.

What time do we want to be there? If going direct then it's about an hour or so ride but if en-route 'rendezvous' are in order then we need a bit longer.

I see the event starts at 10 but not sure when things get going? Perhaps start (from Melton) around 9 - 9:30 but I'm flexible on timing and route too, it's as much about the journey as the destination...

Hi Guys - to clarify, you can ride straight into the display area when you've paid the admission fee at our gazebo, you don't have to wait around for a mass ride-in. We have to keep things moving so we don't bung up the main car park, which will be very busy. When you arrive you will be directed where to go.

For those of you who have been to this event before - we're not using the main gates near the cafe to access the display area as in previous years.

All makes of motorcycle are welcome and they all park together in the display area, but the vast majority of them will be Buell and Italian ....

The Vincent Owners Club will be there again.

We'll be there from 9.00am but most folk arrive between 10.00am and noon. The first aircraft display is at 1.00pm.

Hope that helps :)....

Yes, it was a good day, and with a good ukmoc attendance too...I think I counted 13 bikes in total.
Great to renew older aquaintances and put a few new faces to forum names.
The rendezvous group were seven in total ...that's 14 termis and not a baffle between the lot of them, which made for a suitably noisy arrival.

We had a great ride over from the midlands, led by Dukedesmo who picked a lovely route which hardly touched a major road all the way there.
And I was particularly pleased that there was no recurrence of the charging circuit gremlins which had crept into my bike just two days earlier, melting connectors and threatening to foil my plans.

That Laverda in Smiffyraf's picture was a strong reminder of the one I used to own in the 70s ...though mine was a slightly earlier model.
Comparing paint shades, it seems that the only two Italian bikes I've ever owned were/are both pretty much exactly the same orange colour.

Yep, and you'll notice that my head is tilted slightly leftward.
I think that was the precise moment that I clocked your monster and thought "that's nice paint ...on that sport classic" !!!
Btw, we all thought your contis sounded lovely as you rode off, particularly the crackle on the overrun.
Nice meeting you yesterday.
And I noted that you had the right kind of knowing grin, as befits a fellow M750 owner.

Nice Day out ... meeting people from two places with a common interest was nice.
Sorry Wendy I didn't mean to sound rude with the first sentence I came out with I had no idea I was being introduced but very nice to meet you both and Sully looks fab :) il keep an eye out for Mike as well :)
Cracking bikes there and I have a real soft spot for Lancs.

It was really gusty across the fens on the way back and boy do I hurt still shoulders and arms got one hell of a work out!
How many people drive up the wrong side of the road in Lincolnshire?????? interesting namely hot hatches.
But I had a nice calm relaxed ride I really enjoyed.
I did 220 miles with out getting lost which is impressive by my standards only stops I did was for fuel.

Kings Lynn I came out of the garage to be greeted by some bloke who said " well I never expected to see a female rider riding a bike like that!."
Apart from a 70's male porn star not quite sure who else would ride my bike !

I am really narked at Highways as there is a huge hump right across the road coming into Ipswich on the A14 by Whitehouse and no hump sign and smacked it with a huge bang to my back so much so I still hurt today.. can't feel it much in a car but on a bike it took me out of my seat and slammed me down..... bruised bum and back :( feel a Dear points of view letter winging their way ! Watch out for that one.

A nice day out if you have not been :) I actually welcomed the drizzle instead of the heat.

How about....where the heck did that toupe go to ?

Didn't realise I was getting so thin on top actually. No wonder my head was sunburnt. I guess I'll have to hack off the remaining straggly bits before much longer, but in the words of David Crosby, I've always felt like letting my freak flag fly.

Actually I was curious as to how the exhaust was made up.
Mine looked different to that and from memory, it had some sort of collector down there.
Having checked the only photo that I still have of the bike ...on the front cover of Motorcycle sport (the pink 'un) from oct '73 .... it had a crossover section which allowed each cylinder to exhaust through both silencers, much like the monster set-up, but less restrictive looking.

We would like to thank everyone who attended Saturday's event. There was a mouth-watering selection of Italian motorcycles and your presence helped to make the event a success.

The event raised £500.00 for the Papworth Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Unit which looked after Emma. The total raised by this and various other UKBEG events since Emma passed away in April 2004 now stands at over £38,000.00.
