My wife and I are moving house and amongst the tide of crap found some very old pics, including a set of pics from my first road trip, France, Monte Carlo, Monaco, Italy, the alps and home.

The pic is taken in front of my Brother-in-Laws Mirage 2000, he was Squadron Leader for the French Airforce.

That bike is the reason my soul lives in Ducati, and in every one I've owned ever since, it may sound sentimental, but no bike lives inside you like a Ducati, to some people they're unreliable, noisy and overpriced, to me it's the reason that two wheels exist.

On a side note, of the many 1000 miles I covered, not once did that bike miss a beat, started every damn time and never let me down.

I've now got a lovely 748s along with my Monster, when the coffers allow I will get another 916 but this time I want a Senna.

The 916/748 bike is IMO the best looking bike ever designed. Many people on here must agree because most people have got one as well as their monsters.

****! That is gorgeous! I am seconds away from buying that. Must resist.....

Actually, it is frightening how 'cheap' that really is. I really need to apply myself and make some goddamn money.

That's a lot of money if you ask me! There's lots of more modern stuff out there in that range, 996/998/Special versions etc.

I thought it was a lot of money, you can get some lovely 996/998 and specials for less than that, especially if you got cash to hand.

My 748s is low mileage, fsh, belts were just done, xenon headlights, givi luggage rack and bag and in great condition and only cost me £2600 when I bought it last year. There are better deals than that 916 out there.

But its an original special, Mmmm any would do though.

I'm really looking for one that is a bit battered or been down the road (and still works) so I can do some evil modifications to it!!

Wouldn't disagree with you on this, had mine for 15 years and still love it. Perfect stablemate for a Monster;

There are better deals and perhaps even better bikes available. But the 916 is special and recognised as one of the best looking bikes ever. Perhaps that is why they hold their value more than others.

Mel,

You are bad and need a thrashing!! I would rather nail my nuts to the floor than have that!
