I've been wondering how easy it would be to convert a new shape monster headlight to fit, surely can't be that bigger task......

would like to fit a retro tri bar clear lens into the bucket like this http://www.classicchevy.com/chevy-headlights-tri-bar-h-4-halogen-clear-1955-1957.html i know the monster headlight size is 7' and a bit same as bmw units so would need to get a 7" bucket of ebay

I don't like the dual headlights either (though I'm glad that some do, as it produces more variety).
For me, the reason I like monsters in the first place is that they are simple, but devastatingly effective, and I like their appearance to express this philosophy.
So, I'm a round-shell purist, I'm afraid....(mind you, I'm not sure that they actually are devastatingly effective with the std bulb....philips extreme vision bulbs improve them significantly for little cost).
They can be made to look a little smaller if you blacken the chrome rim. I've often wondered whether a 6 incher would look better, but I can't be ars3d. My screen wouldn't fit properly then either.

That said, I think Saint has a new style headlight on his old style monster, and it does look good.
If I remember correctly, he combines it with an aftermarket electronic dashboard unit, which further cleans the lines of the front.

I guess anything can be made to fit, its a question of how hard you're prepared to try. The new style is probably easier than most others, I would guess, as it shares the same parentage.

Ive seen quite a few new style monsters with their head lights change for the old style!

That looks interesting.

Rather than new style I was thinking more of an aggressive cafe racer look with the wire stone guard maybe a yellow tint also . I like the idea to of a 6 inch lamp Grumpy .. I just think the standard one looks slightly cumbersome

If you we're ultra-cool you could fit R1 headlights, but I hear that's only for really handsome people....

I've heard about a guy who did just that !

I've had these fitted:

And have these now:

I'm now looking for something different. Why not try getting an original headlight and mount it lower?

This one has been sat in my "watch list" for a while - original 7" size but very un-original lights - no idea if it's any good or not ????

I guess that the problem with aftermarket units is that you don't really have much idea of how well they'll perform.
At least with a manufacturer's original (even if its not normally fitted to your particular model) its performance is well tried and tested.

Lower std light has definitely been reported on the forum...was it Pedro...?
I suppose that, being lower, it will not throw its light so far forward without causing dazzle to oncomers ?
Does give it more of a mean "charging bull" stance though.

I found the original M600 one a bit lacking, especially when making progression at night, the one I have currently fitted is plenty bright for my night time excursions and apparently its quite bright in the daytime so I have been told.

LVC,

Yep I've been looking at that as well looks tidy and i fancy a low mounted original looking light.

I feel the head light on a Monster is....crap!
compared to other bikes I have owned the main beam is not up to the job when, as Yorkie said, making progress.
The lower mount details have been on several Monster forums, so have a search...it does look good.
Maybe fit a different unit with a better reflector design or capable of fitting a higher wattage/ newer style lamp?

As a foot note, as we age, we require about twice as much light to see detail at the age of 65!
compared with 16!!

YorkieI'm guessing tie wrap on the lever is because it's been transported to the photo shoot

Holding front brake on in a van would stop it rolling around

I thought exactly that as that's what I do when the bike is on the ferry, but, how did they get it out of the back of the van? Wheelie?

More to the point why is the brake lever silver and the clutch black ?

Fluids could do with a change also whilst we're picking it to bits, lol

I like the idea of a lower headlight & clocks .. I am looking at a 7 " jobbie with a peak ! Powdercoat it the sane colour as the rest of my bike ..i Bet no one has a lowered lamp with a peak !!
