Due to my entry into the wonderful world of VWs (T5 custom (will be..) van and Golf TDI PD130) I am downsizing and selling off some of the fleet (and to recoup some of the money I spent on my dog's eye op. He's not blind anymore, but I'm skint! Best Xmas pressy ever though, seeing him see again!!).

See here for the Paj:

That's a bit spooky, I'm in the process of converting a VW T4!

Ooh, I'm after a deli. I want a LWB though. How long have you had it. What's your honest opinion of them, good and bad points. Any good off-road.

I only had mine out in Savernake Forest in the snow and a few fields. Ahem... nothing too extreme. IMO they will cope with some of the trails around Malborough with ease. Some people in the club really try to kill them on Salisbury Plain. The only thing that succeeds is if they clog the rad up going through deep muddy water, then fly home along the motor way and overheat. The expansion chambers get UV on them and crack then explode when hot. Not good.. the new ones from Mitsubishi are UV proofed and don't do this. First thing to do is what I did- replace it!!! They're good motors. Bit less juicy than Pajeros due to aerodynamics, but still like a drink. I was after a LWB but there's only about 18" in it tbh. I've had mine over a year, but use it as a van nowadays with the seats all folded up, but need more space so bought the VW. Now we have more space than we can use!!

Good points, super comfy in all seats, super versatile seating/loadspace too! Great high up driving position. Like a van but comfy and refined. No worries with the LEZ in London and no lower speed limits of a van. Bad points- 30mpg on a very good day. All the roofs bubble but not too bad really.

Cool another T4 owner...

Never knew they did a Soft Top Paj

They do a 2.5 diesel and 3.0 petrol but according to all the lists etc they never made a 2.8. Well I have one and have read about one other! It's a genuine factory model too. Quite a neat little motor. I took the back seats and roll bar out and used it as a soft top pick up. Ideal for that.

And never mind, he'll see the light and get a T5 eventually. They always do... :D

No, I'm not going back to a T5, they keep breaking down

Mine's done 170k miles and still going great! One owner from new and no expense spared- everything genuine VW and FVWSH from a decent VW dealership. This might help I guess... ;) Saying that, the driveshaft problem is rearing it's ugly head. But if reliability was my main concern I wouldn't have bought my Duc!

Had a t4, then a t5 and now have a t4 again, the t5 was that bad

Wow!! I have heard similar stories, but thankfully the 3 T5s I am familiar with have been high miler 1.9s but great condition and they all came from the same funeral company I work for occasionally. Maybe the maintenance is the key?

As I recall you had/have a place in Spain, did you really drive around in a vehicle with Pajero writen on it? They call 'em a Monterey there, and with very good reason...

Haha! No I take a more economical vehicle when I drive there!! And despite the name I'd still drive it around and give the locals a giggle at the dumb Inglese.. :D
