Ok so switching tanks and have taken out the fuel pump assembly and presume that this is a fuel filter? If so is it a serviceable item and would it really be needing a change?

It's a scheduled service item, replace every 6000mi/1yr.

When replacing the filter i would check and double check the condition of the o-ring to.

The filter is directional, make sure the arrow goes with the flow of fuel.

lubricate the o-ring with some non petroleum (e.g. lithium) grease before you put it in, will stop it from rolling up or pinching when re-installing it
